collapse expand iconDescription

Yamaha's MG16 mixing console combines a straightforward interface with high-end components to deliver stunning sonic clarity for live and studio use. This 16-channel analog mixer features Yamaha's studio-grade D-PRE preamps, which utilize discrete components and an inverted Darlington circuit to provide more power and lower impedance for a natural, musical tone. With 3-band EQ, high-pass filters and one-knob compressors on every channel, the MG16 gives you flexible, intuitive control over your mix.

16 High-Quality Mic Preamps for a Transparent Sound

The quality of your preamps determines the direction of your mix. The MG16's D-PRE preamps are designed to impart zero color or distortion, allowing the natural tone of voices and instruments to shine through. With 48V phantom power, you have enough clean gain for condenser mics and active DI boxes. pads help manage hot signals from line-level devices. The end result is a mix with depth, detail and clarity.

Shape Your Tone With 3-Band EQ and High-Pass Filters

The MG16's 3-band EQ on every channel provides nuanced tone shaping for a balanced, professional mix. Tweak the highs for extra presence, boost the lows for a solid foundation and sweep the mids to sit vocals and instruments just right in your mix. High-pass filters eliminate unwanted rumble and make individual channels and your overall mix tighter and cleaner.

Quickly Dial in Dynamics With One-Knob Compressors

One-knob compressors on each mono channel provide smooth, intuitive dynamics control for a cohesive mix. Increase sustain on guitars, add punch to drums and bass, tighten up vocals or bring background instruments forward in the mix. With a single turn of a knob, you have transparent compression right at your fingertips.

Digital Effects Provide Extra Depth and Dimension

The MG16 features a suite of SPX digital effects to enhance your mix for both live performance and recording. Choose from reverbs and delays to add space and depth. Tweak the effects level on each AUX send for the ideal blend in your monitors and front-of-house mix. With intuitive navigation, you'll dial in a perfect custom reverb in seconds.

I bought this to use to mix audience participation with leaders in a church setting. I chose it because it had multiple XLR inputs with compression and the ability to "bus" them together for ease of control. Works great and produces great, clean sound
