Yamaha CP73 & CP88 Stage Pianos | In-Depth Overview

Description
The Yamaha CP73 73-Key Digital Stage Piano is a powerful portable digital keyboard designed for live performance and stage use. Featuring 73 full sized keys with graded hammer action, the CP73 provides an authentic grand piano feel for practicing and performances. Its Virtual Circuit Modeling technology creates rich, complex resonance in response to the player's touch, making this instrument a pianist's favorite. The CP73 is a versatile instrument ready to accompany any musical style.
Responsive Hammer Action Keys Provide Authentic Feel
The CP73 features 73 full-sized keys with graded hammer action, providing an impressively realistic grand piano feel. The heavier touch in the lower register and lighter touch in the higher register mirrors the hammers inside an acoustic grand piano. This graduated touch response allows for nuanced control and full, dynamic expression when performing.
Virtual Circuit Modeling Provides Rich Tonal Complexity
Yamaha's Virtual Circuit Modeling technology creates the complex resonance of an acoustic piano by modeling the interaction between strings, dampers and soundboard. The resulting resonance provides rich overtones that respond dynamically based on touch and pedaling. With VCM, the CP73 delivers stunningly expressive grand piano tones for an authentic playing experience.
Powerful yet Portable for Gigging Musicians
Weighing in at just over 28.9 pounds, the CP73 is designed to be taken anywhere. It features an elegant yet durable cabinet, making it suitable for stage use and transportation between gigs. The CP73 packs powerful performance features into its portable frame. For gigging musicians seeking an authentic stage piano experience, the CP73 is an ideal companion both on stage and on the road.
Premium Sounds and Advanced Features for Versatile Performances
In addition to stunning grand piano sounds, the CP73 offers a wide range of high quality voices including electric pianos, synths and more. The CP73 also provides audio recording capabilities for capturing your performances as well as the ability to load and play standard MIDI files. With this robust set of sounds and features, the CP73 delivers dynamic and inspiring performances in any musical style.

I love the keyboard feel of all 3 Yamaha keyboards i own. The CP 73 is the best. It's nice weighted action is perfect for me, a rock'n'roll keyboardist. Setting your sounds is analog easy, no searching through banks of digitalia. I only need 73 keys and it fits well in my compact Corolla. I ordered it through the store and it did not disappoint in any way when i actually got to play it.

The Electric pianos are very good along with the keybed its nice to play. Ability to play IOS apps with one cable to ipad and play app through the CP is excellent. The mod, pitch and volume control the IOS apps as well. Some sub sounds are weak - organ and synth in particular-hoping for an update

Yamaha's old-school ergonomically-correct controls, the advanced mode layering and awesome EFX, and newly added and long-awaited OB brass/synthy (might as well JUMP!!! I'll Wait...) and OB strings--along with their brilliant vintage keys and awesome action and portability make the CP series an absolute dream....now Yamaha, just tweak those Hammond sounds (oh, wait-that might cut into your YC revenue-nevermind) Oh, while I'm kvetching, an integrated MUSIC DESK might be a nice addition. Oh, and tap delay. Still, the CP is the consummate 70s/80s vintage keys lover's ONE-STOP solution!!!
Check Black Keys Before Purchase !

Black keys loose velocity as soon as they're palyed hard & fast ! They sound soft when played hard & fast . The CP88 does not have this issue . The Piano and E. Piano sounds are pro but the Sub's are like cheap synths . The reverb is useful but not the delay since the " Tab Delay " is missing . I have a KORG SV-1 and the E. Pianos are much closer to vintage pianos than CP73/88 . If you're a pianist , go for CP88 . I'm returning my CP73 for CP88 .

Good evening Software capability needed for Mac?
A cool feature is the onboard USB MIDI and audio interface. A single cable allows you to connect to Mac/PC for both MIDI and 2x2 digital audio. It is a simple and straight-forward connection that speeds up the recording process in the studio. For musicians who use laptops and virtual instruments for live performance this feature allows you to leave that audio interface at home: The single cable connects to the computer and whatever virtual instrument host you use. iOS Connectivity : With a USB cable and an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor (LUCA) you can connect to an iOS device and pass both MIDI and audio. This opens up a plethora of iOS recording apps and virtual instruments. When it’s time to take a break on a gig you can play your own break music from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
