Description

The Yamaha BB734A bass guitar provides working musicians a versatile instrument for any playing situation. With its active/passive pickup configuration and 3-band EQ, you can shape your tone to cut through the mix in any genre. The BB734A's alder body, maple top and 5-piece maple/mahogany neck deliver a balanced tone with punchy midrange, crisp highs and tight low end.

Active and Passive Pickups for Serious Flexibility

The BB734A gives you the best of both worlds with its dual YGD V7 pickups. Flip the switch to active mode for a penetrating slap tone with scooped mids or go passive for a warm, vintage growl with natural dynamics. The 3-band EQ provides additional tone shaping so you can customize your sound for any environment, from a cramped club stage to an arena. With this bass in your hands, you'll have the versatility to adapt to any musical situation.

Roadworthy Construction for Reliable Performance

Yamaha built the BB734A to handle the demands of life on the road. Its alder body and maple top provide a lightweight but resonant platform for the dual pickups. The 5-piece maple and mahogany neck is designed for stability, with a miter joint that prevents warping. Open-gear tuners offer quick and accurate tuning. From its premium components to rock-solid craftsmanship, the BB734A is made to perform show after show.

Modern Playability with a Vintage Vibe

While the BB734A has the power and features for contemporary bass playing, its aesthetics evoke a classic electric bass vibe. The vintage-tint gloss finish, block inlays and open-gear tuners provide visual touches of retro cool. The slim, fast neck offers a profile that's ideal for both traditional and modern techniques. Overall, the BB734A blends modern tone and playability with a nod to the electric basses of yesteryear.

I still haven't decided whether I like the active or passive sound more! I play a lot of jazz standards and some classic rock basslines, of course. And I've gotten really good sounds that I like both from the active electronics and running the bass in its passive mode. I had to setup the bass to raise the E and A strings and lengthen them for proper intonation, but that was also true of my previous bass guitar. I also picked this bass because of the colors available for this model, I liked this color a lot.

  • Excellent playing, sounding, looking bass

Excellent bass. Indigo blue color is gorgeous, but what makes bass phenomenal is the sound. Active passive switch opens of lots of tonal possibilities. Fun to play. Solid build. Versatile for lots of styles.
