Awesome Solid State Metal

The blue channel is very pantera with no pedals. Noise gate in the effects loop is all it needs. Emulated out sounds great for di recording. During a massive tube shortage this is an awesome back up amp.

The price went way up on these but I bought one anyway. Bottom line is it is an excellent sounding amplifier for hard rock and classic metal. No pedals needed. This is comming from a guy who has owned an Ampeg VH140C full stack for over 20 years. 599 on sale but still glad I own it. GC matched sale price from AMS. Nice amp!

This might be the best solid state amp ever made for metal. The gain channels sound huge and are plenty loud for any gig. I have the 1003 paired with a V30 loaded 4x12 Randall xl cab running at 4 ohms... it will blow your head off. I love channel 3 on this. It's super tight and very modern. Channel 2 is also equally impressive. It's looser on the low end but more saturated. Good for heavy doom riffs. The clean channel is pretty decent. The bright switch really helps. You can get a good breakup on the clean channel with the gain dimed. And yes, it does take pedals well. I've owned 5150's and this amp is up there with the best of them. Tubes or no tubes this amp has balls. Mike Fortin nailed this one. My suggestion is get a cab that can run at 4 ohms if you get the 100 watt version.
Clean channel took a dump

Its an awesome head, channels 2 and 3 sound great, and so does the clean channel, WHEN IT WORKED. Woke up one day to play and it was super quiet with the volume turned all the way up. I did the usual tests to make sure it wasn't my guitar, pedals, or cab, its defanitly just the clean channel. Channels 2 and 3 still work like their supposed to, and its never left my room once, and ive had it since December. Theres no plausable reason that it shouldn't work. Probobly faulty wiring.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly speaker emulated XLR direct output is and how it works. I've always used either Marshall's or Peavey 6505's. The latter of which was unfortunately stolen at a venue while making a surprise appearance with a friends band when they came thru town during my time living in LA so I'm very old school when it comes to equipment. With a custom Charvel on the way and nothing but a little 40w BlackStar amp to monkey around with, which has these said capabilities but is not compatible with my computer, I really do not understand IRs or cab sims or anything like that as I've never had a use for them but with the new guitar i need an amp that is better suited to the beast that's coming my way and can't afford another decent tube amp. It's between this and and orange crush 100w. What's everyone recommend??
