Description

The Marshall DSL20CR combo amplifier delivers 20 watts of pure valve tone in a portable package. This all-tube, twin-channel amp offers Marshall's revered Classic Gain and Ultra Gain voicings, allowing guitarists to summon crisp clean tones, vintage overdrive, and modern high-gain saturation. With high and low power modes, the DSL20CR provides appropriate volume for any setting—from home practice to club gigs. The DSL20CR features an innovative emulated speaker output, which accurately reproduces the sound of Marshall's legendary 1960 cabinet for direct recording or silent practice.

Adjustable Power Tailors Tone to Any Environment

The DSL20CR's adjustable power settings deliver authentic all-valve tone and feel at any volume. This groundbreaking technology adjusts power to the valves instead of simply turning off stages, allowing the amp to remain touch-sensitive and articulate. High power mode unleashes the DSL20CR's full 20 watts of vintage British attitude, perfect for live performance. Low power mode provides a more manageable 10 watts of volume ideal for home use.

Softube Speaker Emulator Enables Direct Recording

In partnership with acclaimed amp modelers Softube, Marshall equipped the DSL20CR with an emulated speaker output. This output accurately reproduces the sound of Marshall's renowned 1960 speaker cabinet, allowing for direct recording or silent practice by connecting the DSL20CR to an audio interface. Guitarists can capture huge, authentic Marshall tones in any recording environment without waking the neighbors or triggering noise complaints.

Refined EQ and Reverb Expand Tonal Palette

Marshall refined the DSL20CR's EQ circuitry to provide even greater control over tone. A studio-grade digital reverb adds dimension and spaciousness. These enhancements, combined with the DSL20CR's Gain, Volume, and Resonance controls, offer a wealth of tonal customization.

All-Valve Design and Celestion Speaker Pump Out Iconic Tone

Under the hood, three ECC83 preamp tubes and two EL34 power tubes provide the all-valve design responsible for the DSL20CR's authentic British voice. A Celestion Seventy-80 loudspeaker accurately reproduces each harmonic detail and overtone, for the full Marshall experience. From glassy cleans to searing leads, the DSL20CR sings with the tone that shaped rock music.

Great for practice and recording, okay for gigging

I've had this amp for a week now, and I am very happy with it. I was looking for an amp that was louder than a "bedroom" amp, but not necessarily loud enough for gigging. This one is perfect for me. The Classic gain channel is not super clean. With single coils, it's good for Hendrix "Hey Joe" kind of sound. It can get a little cleaner if you want to sacrifice volume, though. With humbuckers, very AC/DC. The Ultra Gain Channel is what this amp is all about. Very smooth distortion, it doesn't get fizzy unless the gain is cranked pretty much all the way up, but that's a LOT of gain. With the Tone Shift switch, along with the the presence and resonance knobs (in addition to the standard high, mid, and low knobs), you have a lot of control over tone. The reverb is a little lacking, but it's usable if you're not looking for anything over the top. The option to drop to half power is great, and the tone doesn't suffer at 10w. I'm very happy with that function. My only real complaint about the amp is that I wish it had been in a bigger cab. I think it lacks some fullness, especially low end compared to other 20w amps that I have played through. I have plugged it into a 2x12 and a 4x12, and either gives it a fuller sound with a little more bottom. I am hoping to find a good size 1x12 to pair it with, I'm pretty sure that will make it the perfect home amp for me. I have played it with a full band, and had plenty of volume to be heard. I am pretty sure it would do fine in a small bar gig on it's own, but much bigger, it should do fine through the PA.

This amp needs help

This amp needs a speaker change right away. I was going to send it back but saw that many people were changing out the speaker for a Celestion Creamback, so I did and now the tones are usable. With the original speaker the sound was very harsh and tinny. The amp comes with no cover so keep that in mind. Also, it is closed back so there is no place to put the power cable. Like others have said, the reverb is very weak, so I had to buy a pedal to get good reverb. So, to make this thing sound the way a good amp should, there is more money needed.

Beginner at 58years old so in a position to purchased the amp of my guitar hero's so to speak . Began with a Fender Mustang and could never really get the sound I was looking for from it. Want a "Tube Amp "Sound…..buy a Tube amp ! Simple 2-Channel amp without all the gizmo's and delivers the "Marshall" sound instantly. Wished I had bought it first !

Pleasantly surprised with this amp! Great clean tone with a little edge behind it. I use this for rehearsal in our studio and smaller venues. Easy to dial the tone in with the EQ. If you're looking for an affordable tube amp for studio or home rehearsal and small venues, this amp checks all of the boxes.

If you are looking for true Marshall tones this is it. If you are looking for some sweet sounds you'll need to look elsewhere. I heard you can tame down the front end and add a CREAMBACK speaker. I wouldn't know. It gets a 4 - its a killer Marshall

This amplifier is outstanding. I got the MX112 external cabinet also. I replaced the speakers in both the amp and mx112 with Celestion G12 Creamback 65 speakers and this thing rocks both clean and dirty. Highly recommend. I also use ME80 effects pedals in the FX loop. Best sound that way
