An Overview of the Epiphone Special-I P90

Mahogany Body For a Balanced tone
One of the first solidbody guitar to be constructed from mahogany was the Gibson Les Paul Standard. The Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Special I P-90 also features a solid mahogany body, making it a durable guitar that is reassuringly heavy. You can also count on electric guitars constructed from mahogany to deliver those gnarly growls and legendary sustain. All in all, this mahogany solibody Les Paul electric guitar features a balanced tone with crisp and strong fundamentals.
P-90 Pickups For a Classic Rock Sound
Equipped with Epiphone P-90R and P-90T Soap Bar pickups, the limited-edition Les Paul Special I P-90 delivers that Les Paul tone that players have loved and appreciated for decades. With a single-coil sound that’s huge and fat, the Epiphone P-90R and P-90T soapbar pickups are sure to help you dial in that classic Les Paul tone.
Maximum Sustain With Wraparound Bridge and Tailpiece
The limited-edition Epiphone Les Paul Special I P-90 also features a wraparound bridge and tailpiece for maximum sustain. Because the wraparound bridge is anchored to the body of the Les Paul in just two spots, you keep more of the string vibrations, which results in a greater amount of sustain. Case is sold separately.

What a fabulous guitar for the money, can't be beat!!!!!!!!!
*Similar review as MF, bought same colour there** Received guitar in good order. Opened large box to find well packed Epiphone box with said guitar inside. Opened Epiphone box to find Worn Cherry Les Paul P90 Special well packed inside with no damage or issue. Very impressed how this is sent from Guitar Center. MF seems to come direct from Epiphone. After unpacking, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice looking guitar that is beyond out of tune. Wasn't expecting it to be, strummed a few chords and had a good laugh. Couldn't help but notice not one sharp fret all the way up the fretboard, another pleasant surprise. Tuned guitar up and played a few more chords up and down the fretboard. All sounded great and in tune. Can't believe the intonation being this good out of the box. Switch is solid and pots are firm to turn, not lose or lacking resistance. Finish is satin and does show life's finger marks which is fine, polished right off. Strings feel dry/tacky from likely a film to protect during shipping. Could wipe off but plan to restring immediately anyway. Epiphone neck plate was installed correct this time. Neck screws are thinner than I would like but are satisfactory. The big surprise comes from taking of the pot plate to find a shielded cover and 500k Alpha pots which would explain why they had some substance when dialled in. Very susprised and impressed. Thanks Epiphone, I won't be upgrading anything on this guitar!! Now that it's restrung with Rotosound Pinks (best strings on earth) and fretboard lemon oiled, this guitar absolutely sings!! I am astounded by what I've pays and what I have. Plays and sounds fabulous. I am really pleased with this guitar. These P90's have the best in high and low bite through my Peavey Stereo Chorus 2x12. I play clean, this is the amp for it and now I have the guitar for it. Unbelievable for the money. Highly recommend getting one!!!!!

Great guitar for anyone looking to try out P90s
I bought this guitar to try out P90 pickups. I use this guitar to practice and as a back up guitar. The guitar sounds great. The finish is good and the electronics are solid. The only issue I had was the fingerboard has a layer of wax on it, cause my fingers to stick. The frets were also rough. I solved this by cleaning up the fingerboard and polishing the frets and I've never that the problem again. This guitar cannot hold its tuning so I ended up changing the tuners and nut. Through this guitar I feel in love with the P90 tone and I will eventually guy a higher end guitar with P90s.

This has become my everyday guitar. The one I choose to pick up all the time. The only thing I changed was the bridge. I put an adjustable intonatable bridge on. I added a few decorations and now it's mine. I love it I love it I love it. It sounds so good and feels good.

Playing some triad progressions on this budget P-90 guitar today through a low power practice amp with some distortion and it sounded great. Later in the day I thought I'd revisit the progressions with my favorite Les Paul clone with a real amp and I could not get the tone regardless of pickup and tone setting. Tried a shredder style guitar splitting the pups in half and still got a higher pitched, un-harmonic (in comparison) sound no matter what. Plugged the Epi back in to the 2nd amp and I was right back to a markedly great tone. Wow! These Epi P-90s are for real. Now I understand the gushing over the FAT tone! Thanks Epiphone…now I've got to revisit all my humbucker guitar choices…

I needed a guitar I could take out of my house and not worry about it getting scuffed or scratched. This guitar fits the bill and it sounds like a million bucks no matter what amp I plug it in. It's easy to play. I can practice with it all day. I love the Worn Black matte finish.

Simple and comfortable. Great addition to my stable of fenders. Gibson/Epi should continue with simple 2 or 3 pot flat top options at all price points. Mine is more of a satin light transparent worn wood finish. Looks brighter yellow on the site. Love this one!
This is a beast of a guitar.

First of all is. Epiphone is game on. These other guitar companies better step up because Epiphone just threw down on all of you. I was looking for a midrange P-90 Guitar but as of late life threw me a curve ball and funds had to go somewhere else. Well all I can say is that I rock ball out of the park when I opted for this guitar. Boxed nice, packaged great, I did have to tighten the jack and tune it. And that was it. Awesome Epiphone. And thanks Guitar center your team is awesome. Just awesome.

With the Worn Cherry guitar, does it come with the strings on or do we attach them ourselves, and if so how expensive is it to have someone do that for you?
This will come with strings already on the guitarsubmitted5 years ago
