Gibson & Epiphone "Bats in Flight" Series | Overview with Mark Agnesi & Dinesh Lekhraj

Description
Back in 2019, Gibson and Guitar Center joined forces for the first-ever Bats in Flight release—and a six-string legend was born. Now, the bats are back—and they’re here to haunt an Epiphone headstock for the very first time. The Epiphone Les Paul Custom Bats in Flight brings the mystique of that ultra-rare original into an accessible, impeccably built Epiphone format, complete with signature "Bats in Flight" inlays, a quilted maple veneer top in two dramatic finishes and the full Les Paul Custom treatment from tip to tail. Under the hood, a pair of ProBucker Custom pickups offer plenty of PAF-inspired growl to match this guitar’s visual bite. The mahogany neck is shaped to the classic Les Paul Custom profile, while the smooth ebony fingerboard is accented with pearloid bats ready to guide the way across dim-lit stages and late-night studio sessions. A LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover Rotomatic tuners keep things rock-solid and road-ready—perfect for taking the stage in style. Available only at Guitar Center, this exclusive Les Paul Custom is beckoning you from the darkness—get yours before these bats take flight once again.
Stunning Quilted Maple Veneer and Solid Mahogany Body
The Epiphone Bats in Flight Les Paul Custom immediately makes a statement with its striking quilted maple top. Available in two dramatic finishes—Dark Purple Burst and Transparent Ebony Burst—the top's swirling patterns and rich figure provide a sense of depth and visual drama. It sits atop a solid mahogany body that delivers timeless Les Paul warmth, sustain and midrange focus. Dual-layer top and back binding frames the contours with crisp elegance, reinforcing the premium aesthetic. Together, the combination of mesmerizing finishes, bright maple shimmer and classic mahogany resonance creates a guitar that’s as sonically compelling as it is visually arresting, ready to command any stage or studio.
Classic Mahogany Neck With Ebony Fingerboard and Signature Bat Inlays
Joined with a traditional set-neck construction, the mahogany neck is carved to the classic Les Paul Custom profile, providing a fast, responsive feel for rhythm and lead work alike. The bound ebony fingerboard adds crisp articulation and a smooth, glassy surface, set with 22 medium-jumbo frets on a 12" radius. Signature Bats in Flight pearloid inlays add shimmering movement and a touch of gothic flair, turning this neck into a striking visual centerpiece. It’s all framed by timeless single-ply white binding, reinforcing the instrument’s elegant, cohesive design.
Epiphone ProBucker Custom Pickups Deliver Classic Les Paul Growl
At the heart of the Bats in Flight’s tone are a pair of Epiphone ProBucker Custom humbuckers, voiced to capture the iconic PAF-inspired character that makes Les Paul Customs instantly recognizable. The neck pickup offers warm, singing sustain with rich harmonic depth, while the bridge pickup cuts with biting clarity and focused midrange punch—perfect for soaring leads or tight, punchy rhythm parts. Wired through CTS pots with dual volume and tone controls and a three-way toggle switch, the electronics give you nuanced tonal shaping at your fingertips, allowing the guitar to go from smooth, vintage warmth to fiery, modern aggression in an instant.
Signature Bats in Flight Appointments and Premium Hardware
The Epiphone Bats in Flight Les Paul Custom exudes dark allure from headstock to tailpiece. Its Kalamazoo-style headstock showcases a mother-of-pearl Epiphone logo and matching Bats in Flight central graphic, setting a dramatic tone. The ebony fingerboard continues the theme with pearloid bat inlays framed by crisp single-ply binding, blending visual flair with tactile comfort. Rock-solid hardware—including a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge, LockTone stopbar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners—ensures flawless performance, while black Witch Hat knobs and gleaming nickel accents complete the look. Every detail is designed to balance sinister style with enduring Les Paul reliability.

Well made, beautiful guitar. I did have to spend about an hour adjusting the neck lowering the bridge and fixing the intonation on the D/G string.
Epiphone/gibson junk these days!!!

So many flaws out of the factory it's ridiculous. It's like they don't care what they're PUMPING out!!! Would never buy another one. Bats in flight, Gibson, Epiphone whatever, would not purchase another guitar or product
Yes, I would buy this again!

First off this guitar is beautiful! I love the bats on the headstock and neck and the color is perfect! I only play for myself so I'm no expert when it comes to the finer points of playing a guitar, but it does play nicely and sounds good. I have been thinking about getting a Les Paul type guitar for a while, and this didn't break the bank and is a nice guitar. I have a Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Strat and a Tele so this rounds my collection!
Beautiful Les Paul w/Epiphone branding.

I practice and play for fun , and I enjoy tinkering with the set-up. I as with some of the other reviewers do think the string hieght on the Low E side are extremly high and the bridge pickup is high so that is the first fix I did along with a good cleaning of the fret board and polish of the frets.Plays great sounds great I would recommend buy this . Oh after checking my other epiphones and doing some research the bridges were kinda above average on them all.
Great guitar, but shame on Guitar Center (no surprise)

Out of the box this guitar has to be the worst setup I've ever received on a new instrument. Strings are easily 1/4in+ off the fret board and the angle between the bridge and tailpiece is so hard that string break is inevitable. Some nut slots also cut really low, bad intonation
