Epiphone

Description

The latest Crestwood Custom electric guitar celebrates Epiphone's 150th anniversary. It features an asymmetrical solid mahogany double-cutaway body that gives players unhindered upper fret access, a mahogany neck with a comfortable ’60s SlimTaper D profile, and an Indian laurel fretboard with oval inlays. The headstock is the popular "Batwing" style, with Wilkinson six-on-a-plate inline tuners with metal buttons. The electronics feature a pair of made-in-the-USA Gibson Mini Humbuckers that are wired to CTS potentiometers, and a Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch and 1/4" output jack. An Epiphone Tremotone vibrato tailpiece gives you extra expressive capabilities. The included 150th Anniversary Historic hardshell case features an Epiphone 150th Anniversary logo.

The Crestwood first appeared in 1958, and it was renamed Crestwood Custom in 1959. The Crestwood was Epiphone’s first two-pickup solidbody electric guitar design.

Yes, the frets were a mess and the routs under the pick gaurd is a little rough (as in splintery) but I am sooooo glade I stuck my neck out to get it fixed up. This guitar is incredible. I have 10,s on it and the neck feels like I have slinky 9's. The pickups really respond to changes in the pickup height so I was able to dial in exacly what I wanted. the sound and pliability is phenomenal! The neck is as accessible at the 22nd fret as it is at the first. It's like a cross between an SG and Tele. I use the Bigsby on all my guitars a lot and I notice that this one is not only silky smooth but bends down in tune. It looks as if this is due to the roll bar which is machined to have a different radius for each string to compensate for the difference that the slack has on the note due to the difference in the string diameter. I am a BIG fan of this guitar. And it looks so cool.

Excellent guitar. Setup was great out of the box. Finish looks really good. No sharp fret ends or grounding issues. The tremolo is slightly fluttery. Better than a real bigsby and lighter. No neck dive. Well balanced. Only issue I have is that the tone and volume knobs were swapped.

  • Not all I was hoping for!

Looks amazing and the color and really pops, terrible setup out of the box, gnd issues for sure if you touch the strings or move the trem arm it would pop and hiss, the frets were terrible! deep groves perpendicular to the fret making it unplayable. Gnd fixable frets no go, RETURNED
