Whether you're a producer, podcaster or musician, the UMC1820 has everything you need to create professional recordings.

Capture Crystal Clear Audio With MIDAS Mic Preamps

The UMC1820's standout feature is its eight MIDAS-designed microphone preamplifiers. MIDAS is an iconic brand known for building exceptional mixing consoles used by the biggest touring acts worldwide. Their mic preamps are revered for their ultra-transparent and smooth sound. The UMC1820 brings that same audio excellence, giving your vocals, acoustic guitars, drum overheads and more a pristine quality. With up to +48V of phantom power, you can use professional condenser mics to pick up intricate details.

Record and Mix with 24-Bit/96kHz Resolution

Harnessing high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz converters, the UMC1820 captures your sound with impressive depth and clarity. This studio-grade resolution provides ample headroom for mixing and effects processing. Whether you're tracking guitars, keyboards, vocals or drums, the UMC1820 translates each element with accuracy and precision.

Robust I/O Options Including ADAT, S/PDIF and MIDI

In addition to its 18 inputs and 20 outputs, the UMC1820 offers ADAT I/O for connecting external preamps and converters, S/PDIF I/O for digital transfers and MIDI I/O for connecting keyboards, controllers and more. This extensive connectivity empowers you to incorporate outboard gear and expand your studio down the road. Sync devices using MIDI and build a powerful production rig.

Monitor Your Mixes Through Dual Headphone Outputs

The UMC1820 provides two independent headphone jacks with their own volume controls. This allows you and your artists to monitor recordings together with zero-latency direct monitoring. Cue up tracks and tweak your mix to perfection. The UMC1820 streamlines the tracking process, helping artists hear themselves with no distracting delay.

Highly recommended

I would have given this a 5 star review, but it only supplies phantom power to either 4 channels at a time (1-4, or 5-8), or all 8 channels at once. I only need 2 channels to have phantom power, and the rest not have phantom. It would be much nicer to be able to select for each channel, but oh well. It's still a really great piece of equipment. Easy to set up and use, and the sound quality just can't be beat, especially at this price point. I love it, and highly recommend it.

Problems with Windows 7 and playback

Tried to use this interface with Windows 7 and ran into some issues. I was running their new driver, 4.38 and it ran great in Studio One which is my DAW. However, when I tried to play audio from any other source, say Youtube, Windows Media Player, ETC... it would freeze the videos and audio. Other people seem to have the problem with the interface and Behringer does not seem to have a solution. I called them and they sent me the old driver 3.29 and it doesn't work at all now. I will post if I can get it figured out but it isn't looking too hopeful. I will probably go back to the 4.38 driver so I can use the interface at least to record. It sounds great recording wise and it is easy to use. It is nice and quiet while recording and is fast.

I bought this because I wanted an interface with lots of inputs and outputs and I really liked how there was a switch on every channel to use line or mic where most interfaces only have 2 instrument channels. The problem is that the audio cuts out at random.

I have this hooked up to my Mac. No drivers needed. Plays everything. Works with all software and DAWs. This thing seems to make perfectly good sound. It has the dual jacks, and plenty of them. Plenty of outputs. I do wish it had inserts like its litltle bro the 404. One of the best things about these is the comprehensive ins and out. In addition to the 8 ins and outs, it has optical, coax, and MIDI. That sealed the deal. It works great.

  • Good value -- lots of I/O for the $$

Good value. Sounds great, easy to use for the basic stuff. Software is very limited -- driver works fine with my DAW but not useful for stand alone use. Unit appears to be very well constructed. Documentation is very limited.

The Behringer U-PHORIA UMC1820 is a USB audio interface, not a passive mixer. While it does have multiple inputs and outputs and offers some routing flexibility, it does not function as a standalone passive mixer.

I have a MacBook Air with an M! processor. It only has USB A plug-ins. Will it work using a hub for connection? Going to use GarageBand loaded on computer. Thanks.

Yes, your Behringer U-PHORIA UMC1820 will work with your MacBook Air (M1) using a USB hub, as long as the hub supports data transfer (not just charging) and is of good quality.

I tried to use this with Reaper on a Mac. I can't get any signal on Reaper, almost like it isn't plugged in, but when I witch over to GarageBand it works perfectly fine. Never had this problem with the 4-channel U-Phoria interface. Anyone know why?
