The Backun Alpha Bb Clarinet is the result of years of research and development and the desire to give student clarinetists an affordable instrument that won’t restrict their development. Made from a proprietary synthetic material chosen for its excellent tonal qualities, the Alpha also gives professional players an instrument that they can confidently use for performances where a wooden instrument might not be appropriate. Available in nickel- or silver-plated keywork, each Alpha Bb Clarinet comes with one (1) Alpha 65mm Barrel, one (1) Alpha Bell, a Mouthpiece Pack including a Mouthpiece, Ligature and Mouthpiece Cap.

    I can't say enough good things about my Backun Alpha clarinet. This is their introductory model, but nothing about it feels compromised. It is made of a composite material, so it avoids that plastic toy instrument feel of some inexpensive plastic models. The key work is exquisite - solid, smooth, quiet, with excellent seal throughout the whole instrument. The scale is also spot on (I am very uptight about this feature!). I took a chance on a brand I was not familiar with, and I am very happy I did. Try one, then buy one!
