I use this for performing with a band and it looks to be very well made and should hold up nicely. I was leery about the telescoping aspect, but it looks to be pretty stable. I bought this to add it to a 30+ year old Atlas Mic stand, I hope it holds up as well as the original stand.
It just stands there

No matter how i touch it, i just stands there, waiting, Mocking me as i move around it, staring into my soul like some metal demon waiting to strike, patiently, trying to catch me off guard, I never take my eyes off of it for fear what it can really do, Beware of this product if it just standing there makes you uncomfortable

This is an old school Atlas product with a cast iron counterweight.

I recently purchased an Atlas stand with a heavy round base as well as this boom extension. While the products certainly cost more than other stands, there is no comparison in quality. The stand/boom are very sturdy and balanced. There is no concern about the stand tipping when extended. The grips tighten nicely and you don't have to worry about the extensions collapsing or the grips stripping like they do on cheaper stands. From here on out, Atlas will be what I purchase for mic stands.
Best boom I've owned!

The 2 pound adjustable weight on this boom arm makes it incredibly easy to set up for vocal use playing keyboard, which can be tricky sometimes in tight spaces. Good quality hardware.

My atlas boom/stands have worn (hardened) rubber discs. Are they replaceable?g
If they are available it would be through Atlas Sound directly.
