This is NOT Aquarian's version of a Pinstripe. It is a 10 mil, single ply head, with a floating ring. The sound I get out of my snare is similar to a Remo Controlled Sound, except this head does not have the problem I've always had with a CS, which is where doing rim-to-center buzz rolls the middle gets dramatically darker sounding and harder feeling. This is a great head, I do like a fairly ringy/bright snare, but it has to be "controlled" which this head does perfectly. If you want Aquarian's version of a Pinstripe, get the Performance 2. And if you want Aquarian's version of a PS3 snare batter, get the Focus-X. This head is unique, and the closest thing I can compare it to is a Controlled Sound, but slightly brighter. It mic's really well to boot.

Aquarian Buff says so-so
I have used nothing but aquarian heads on my entire Jazz kit since I got the kit. I love the long lasting coating of these heads. I would only use aquarians on my rock kit toms (but I don't). Overall, I am a fan of the Super-2's over the Studio X. On the toms X's are pretty weak to the S-2's. On the snare the one ply heads have a odd ring to them that I have a hard time tuning true or out... years of experience tuning. The other thing is that tight tension on these coated heads by aquarian heads make them prone to rim-rips. Or rather, if you hit your stick too hard at the edge of your head you rip it where it touches the drumshell (my snare is nicely bevelled even). Try the Studio X if you like ringy snares. Otherwise Super-2 coated is the way to go.

This provides enough dampening to take excess ring out of the picture but not so much to kill it all. Great if you like controlled tone.
I would buy the studio x heads always.

I have been playing drums for over 10 years now, and all i ever played was remo since i started. Pinstripe, coated emperor, clear emperor, coated ambassador, ambassador hazy, powerstroke pro, powersstroke 3, powersonic, ebony ambassador, coated ambassador bass, i have tried it all!!!!!!! Out of the box the heads have a great sound, i was worried about 1 ply heads, and on my 8 inch and 10 inch they are a little more fragile, but wow these heads are amazing. Idk why everyone else thinks they arnt good they are the best heads ever. Grab you some of these, Aquarian a hidden GEM amoung remo and evans.
