Aquarian

collapse expand iconDescription

The Aquarian Superkick III is a coated, single-ply, medium-weight, ebony bass drumhead with a power dot in the center for added reinforcement. The Superkick III bass drumhead produces a low-end, well-defined punchy sound due to Aquarian's patented Floating Muffling System, which is a narrow felt muffle ring attached to the backside of the drumhead.

Safe-T-Loc hoop
This hoop system prevents slippage inside the hoop so that the head does not de-tune during a performance and will not pull out. Tuning is consistent and the head stays in tune.

Sound Curve Collar Design
This design allows the Aquarian drumhead to seat perfectly on the bearing edge. No wrinkles even with loose tuning. It conforms instantly to any shell design and makes tuning fast, easy, and more accurate.

Triple Locking System
This unique system provides drummers with previously unheard of advantages in resonance and playability. First, holes are punched in the bottom of a "U" shaped channel, which has been formed in the drumhead. These holes allow the epoxy to flow into the "Safe-T-Loc" channel. Second, the "T-Ribs" that form the Safe-T-Loc channel prevent the epoxy and the drumhead, from slipping and pulling away from the hoop. Lastly, the Locking Shoulder acts as a "stop" to ensure the correct collar height for the drumhead.

I love this head. I got it after purchasing an Aquarian head for a snare that I loved and reading about the super-kick. I could not be happier--the punch of this head makes for a solid and consistent sound that cuts through the mix.

Had an Evans 360 head before, I broke one of the two ply's within 2 months. No pedal patches needed with this head. Very durable with the power dot. I was going to buy new double pedals (currently using DW2000's) and the want/need to buy them has been put off, almost erased. Awesome rebound is in play while playing. This is even more "ground breaking/shaking" than Evans claims their 360 technology head to be.

this drum head is not too thick, it doesnt do that thing where you get vibrations between the beater and the head, it has the nice low end sound a a tint of a nice click to it, it sounds perfect for any type of music, even through a mic. it has a power dot in the middle, so you get extra durability, even though its a one ply head. the dot in the center is two plys. it also has an amazing look to it. i would recamend this to anyone who wants the nice click and the LOW END AND BOOM IN IT. its amazing.

  • Great sound, a little to thick.

This is a great drum head and I am a loyal aquarian man, but the head is just a little too thick. It's hard to get a get bounce off of it. It's definitely worth a try, especially if you love that bass that rattles peoples brains. It also sounds great muted a little bit. If you're content with your Super II, stick to it. I really love that it's black too! Hahaha. Good luck!
