The Modern Vintage single ply, 10 mil, Medium weight drumhead, features a special coating that has the look, the feel and the warm sound of a calfskin head. The coating is slightly thicker and helps to slow the vibration of the head resulting in a lower, warmer tone with a softer feel and a classic vintage look. These full range tom and snare drumheads and are suitable for any musical setting where warm tone and full resonance are welcome.     The Aquarian Modern Vintage Medium heads are my favorites to date...they're warm without being dull - responsive, have a great feel, and the heavy coating holds up great and resists marks as well as any head I've ever used...and they look great IMO! That heavy coating tames the overtones more than a standard coated single-ply (Ambassador, G1, etc), which makes them feel and sound more like a two ply head (in a good way). The actual two-ply version of these (Modern Vintage II) are uber FAT sounding (a bit too fat for me), but don't have the response and rebound of the Mediums. If you're looking to go for a warmer, more vintage (but still reasonably open) sound, this is a great place to start! ALSO, this was one of my few experiments using Aquarian heads and I gotta say the way they sit so flush on the drum and the amazing ease of tuning them has made me change allegiance from Evans to Aquarian now! Super impressed with these heads on my toms (10,14,16)!!!

    I'm looking to try Aquarian "Modern Vintage Mediums" on my 12, 13, 16" toms (Item # 1500000140968). However, (1) Only the 12" appears order-able from online (great!). (2) There is no 13" option?? The only thing I can find that is close is the "American Vintage Medium" (Item # 1500000140834). This has a 13" option, but these say they are for a "slightly larger hoop diameter to allow for an easier fit on many of the thicker, vintage drum shells." I play a late 90's Yamaha Stage Custom; will the "American Vintage" heads fit? (3) The 16" says "in-store only" but all the stores are closed. How can I order online anyways?
