    I could tell you that this is a very warm sounding batter head with great response, but I think my guitarist's review would be better: THAT'S EXACTLY THE SURF TOM'S I'VE WANTED!" When your guitarist finally likes your sound, you know you're in business.

    If you are looking for super fat tones, but without the dull, lifeless thud of something like the Evans Hydraulics, this is your head! They are just as fat and warm as all get out, but still have a surprising amount of tone and sustain for their density...I would imagine these heads would last close to forever! I found them a bit too warm and fat for me, but if that's your thing, these are your heads! Lean and bright, they are not :)

    Replaced all heads on a 1981 Gretsch USA kit. Incredible deep and clean tone on the large floor tom. Very articulate and smooth attack. Quick decay.

    Great head. Have been wanting to try for a while, finally took the plunge! Have these on a 1981 Gretsch USA, and they look and sound great!! Don't really need any muffling. Clean deep tone without a lot of ring. Sound great with both wood tip and nylon tip. Have about 3 hours on the kit and heads barely look like they've been hit.
