After 30 years, I gave in and tried electronic

I play with a duo and with 3 bands. I finally got wore down with people complaining about the drums being too loud with my duo. I'm not even a loud player but people love to find something to complain about. I did a lot of research and decided to give this kit a try. That ended up being a great decision. It folds down easily so it can ride standing up in the back of my Suburban. The rack is plenty sturdy enough for me. The mesh heads are great. The supplied kick drum pedal actually works great. I built my own kit from the supplied module sounds and I love it. I had only intended to use it for the duo but I use it for everything except bigger shows. For the price, I can't recommend this kit highly enough. It's a great kit. Thus far, my only con is that the kick and hi hat pads drop out, don't reproduce all of the strikes, on occasion but I can live with that. I bought this kit thinking that, if I didn't like it, I had 45 to take it back. That was 3 months ago. I love this kit.

I bought this drum set and I can tell you it's a piece of cr

First of all I got it with the extra symbol but the snake is not able for that and it came with a bent bass drum bar. So the bass drum bar moves as soon as you hit the bass drum and the snare drum rim shot is louder than an actual hit on the snare

I've had this kit a little over 10 months. When it works, it's great. As stated before, the hi hat and kick drop out intermittently but has gotten worse. The snare has completely quit working. Guitar Center is no help. Alesis and InMusic warranty is a joke. Just a big runaround.

Q&A

Have a question about this product? Our expert Gear Advisers have the answers.

  • asked byM

    fromWashington, DC

What would I use to upgrade the stock hi-hat to make it more realistic version? One that open & closes. Are there options available to accomplish this? What are the steps and what product could I purchase to make this happen?

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
The included hi-hat trigger and controller pedal only support basic open/closed states—no true variable control or "chick" foot articulation. You’re upgrading two parts: The hi-hat pad (for more triggering zones and responsiveness) The controller pedal (to support variable position) However, the Command drum module does not support full continuous hi-hat input, so options are limited. Option 1: Minor Upgrade (Best Within Command Module’s Limitations) Product Suggestion: Yamaha HH65 Hi-Hat Controller Pedal or Roland FD-8 or FD-9 Hi-Hat Controller These offer better feel and smoother transition detection than the stock Alesis pedal. Steps: Plug the new controller into the Hi-Hat Control input on the module. Calibrate using the module settings (if needed). Test for improved open/close response. You’ll still be limited by the Command module’s processing—so no true variable control, but it feels better. Option 2: Full Realistic Hi-Hat (Only Works With Upgraded Module) If you want true acoustic-style playability (like chick, splash, half-open), you’ll need to: Upgrade the drum module to one that supports continuous control hi-hats, such as: Alesis Strike Pro Module Roland TD-17 or TD-27 Module Pearl Mimic Pro (advanced option) Then pair it with: Hi-Hat Pad with Stand-Mounted Controller: Alesis Pro X Hi-Hat (2-piece on acoustic stand) Roland VH-10 / VH-11 / VH-12 (top-tier, excellent feel) EFnote, ATV aD-H14 (premium options) Steps: Mount hi-hat pad on an acoustic stand. Connect pad and controller to upgraded module. Configure hi-hat calibration in the new module.

    fromElgin Oklahoma

How would I make it to be able to do double kicks

    Open Reply - Gear-Support
To enable double kick drumming on the Alesis Command X Mesh Kit Special Edition, you need to either: Use a Double Kick Pedal The Alesis Command X Mesh kick pad physically supports a double bass pedal — so the easiest and most effective method is: Buy a double bass drum pedal (like from DW, Tama, Pearl, etc.). Attach both beaters to strike the single mesh kick pad. Adjust the pedal spacing so both beaters cleanly hit the pad surface. Configure sensitivity and threshold settings in the module if needed to ensure both hits trigger consistently.
