I really love this pad. I feels great. The rim is steel, and the pad feels very heavy duty. I ordered this pad after waiting 8 months for a Xymox pad (eventually cancelled/refunded via my credit card). This pad arrived in 2 days, and is absolutely worth every penny. Would definitely recommend.

No snare sound. Better off with a piece of 2x4

Son needed a special practice pad the teacher really wanted him to have. Bought this one and he said it was "LIT". So I guess I got the right one. It really bounces the sticks like a real snare.

  • Great marching snare practice pad!

Bought this for my son who's playing in the high school drumline. He likes it and has been practicing on it a lot. I have my drumset set up and a practice studio, but none of my kit snares can be tightened as tight as a marching snare. This S-Hoop 14" Practice Pad head is super tight and it's pretty heavy. It won't bounce off of any surface you set it on. My son has been bringing it on long drives, and just playing it on his lap. It does have a very light snare sound to it, but is pretty much the same volume as any other practice pad. If you want to mount it on a stand, you will need a regular snare stand that is tall enough to get to standing height, if that's the way you want to practice with it. There is no center screw mount hole. Great buy!

I ordered this through Sweetwater so it might be different, but there is hardly any snare sound. The bolts on the back are loose and you can't tighten or loosen them, so they serve hardly any purpose except to hold the beads in place. The beads are so loose that I move the practice pad and you can hear them. Might as well call this "Practice pad" a shaker. Basically, I wish it had more of a snare sound, otherwise it's not as fun for me to practice on it. Everything else is fine. It does feel like a real marching snare head with the carbon fiber layer on top. Nor sure if this is worth the money.

I heard the carbon fyber starts to break if you use wooden sticks, I would like to know if its true or not.

With normal use, it should not break, no.
