Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage ’60s Stratocaster HSS: A Next-Level Fender Electric Guitar

Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage ’60s Stratocaster HSS: A Next-Level Fender Electric Guitar
Guitar Center

The Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage ’60s Stratocaster HSS electric guitar strikes the perfect balance between classic Strat vibes and cutting-edge performance. With its Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer finish and Fiesta Red color, it exudes vintage style. Plug it in, though, and everything changes. Thanks to its Pure Vintage ’61 Stratocaster single-coil pickups and a high-output Haymaker humbucker in the bridge, this guitar easily evokes both the soul of the Sixties and the high-gain punch of ’80s Superstrats. “Sometimes, you just want a little more horsepower,” says Los Angeles guitarist Angela Petrilli, “and with a humbucker, you’re absolutely off to the races.”

Versatile Stratocaster Sound with Modern Muscle

From smooth, bell-like neck pickup tones to gritty, overdriven bridge leads, this guitar is a tonal chameleon. “The Haymaker is a very well-balanced pickup,” Petrilli explains. “Low notes are clear, but there’s some nice high-end chime, as well.” A built-in S-1 switch lets you coil split the humbucker, dialing in that classic single-coil sound on the fly.

"As guitarists, we're sometimes dealing with trade-offs. Perhaps you want a vintage guitar for the tone and vibe, but aren’t happy about not getting the playability developments of the last 70 years. Maybe you're looking for a brand new, immensely playable guitar, but it won’t have the ‘broken-in’ feel you get with a vintage, or vintage-inspired, instrument. The American Ultra Luxe Vintage series gives you best of both worlds, no hyperbole needed,” adds Guitar Center’s Max Lauer-Bader, who produced our video overview of this guitar with Angela.
