Gear Card Rewards Program Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the Gear Card Rewards program? The Gear Card Rewards Program is automatically available for your Guitar Center Gear Card account, if it is open, in good standing and not more than two (2) payments past due, both at the time points are earned and at the time Gear Card Rewards Certificates are issued and redeemed. The Gear Card Rewards program is free.

How are rewards points calculated? You will earn five points for every one dollar spent. If returns and adjustments exceed purchases in any billing statement period, this could result in negative reward points. Once you accumulate 1,000 points (or $200 in purchases) you will earn a $10 Rewards certificate, or 5% in Rewards. You will continue to earn Rewards certificates in $10 increments, up to $100 per certificate, for every 1,000 points earned. Additional points may be earned during periodic special promotions such as 2x points, determined at Guitar Center’s discretion.

When did I start earning points towards Rewards? As of October 14, 2016, points began accruing towards rewards with purchases made with your Gear Card.

I made a purchase at Guitar Center today, when will I get my points? Points will be awarded to your account at the time of your credit card billing cycle (if they have posted to your account) and will appear on your monthly statement. Points will remain in pending status for up to 3 billing periods. You can check your points balance by calling 866-396-8254, entering your account number and pressing zero or saying “agent” to speak to a representative.

When will I get my certificates? Gear Card Rewards certificates will be issued up to three billing periods after your net reward points balance equals or exceeds 1000 points. You will receive your certificates with your credit card statement in the mail and also via email if we have your email address. Please visit mysynchrony.com to confirm your email address if you would like to receive your Rewards certificate(s) via email. If you receive electronic statements, you can also go online to mysynchrony.com and download or print your statements and Rewards certificate(s) once issued. Your reward points balance will automatically be reduced by 1000 reward points for every $10 in Gear Card Rewards issued to you. Gear Card Rewards expire 90 days after issuance.

Where can I use my Gear Card Rewards certificates? To redeem Gear Card Rewards, you must come to a Guitar Center store, go online to guitarcenter.com, or call 866-498-7882 by the expiration date shown on the Gear Card Rewards certificate. Gear Card Rewards redeemed in-store must be surrendered at time of purchase. To redeem Gear Card Rewards online at guitarcenter.com, you must enter the barcode number printed on the Gear Card Rewards certificate. You can redeem multiple Gear Card Rewards on a single transaction. A limit of $500 in Gear Card Rewards can be redeemed per transaction. Gear Card Rewards can be combined with any promotional offer. If the value of a purchase is less than the value of the Gear Card Rewards being redeemed, then any remaining Gear Card Rewards balance will be forfeited. Gear Card Rewards cannot be credited to an account or redeemed for cash.

How many certificates can I use at one time? There is no limit on the number of certificates that may be redeemed, however, the maximum total of all certificates may not exceed $500 per transaction.

Can I let someone else use my Gear Card Rewards certificate? Yes, Gear Card Rewards certificates may be used by someone other than the cardholder to whom the certificate was issued. However, Gear Card Rewards are not "gift certificates" and are not intended for gift-giving purposes. Gear Card Rewards cannot be used to purchase Guitar Center gift certificates.

I lost my certificate, what can I do?

• If you only receive paper statements, please call 866-396-8254 to speak with a Synchrony Bank representative.
• If you are enrolled in eBill, simply log on to MySynchrony.com and reprint your statement with Rewards certificate.

Can I use my Gear Card Rewards certificate to pay my Gear Card bill? Gear Card Rewards certificates have no cash value and are only valid on Guitar Center merchandise.

Are there any exclusions to redeeming Gear Card Rewards certificates?Gear Card Rewards have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash. Good for one-time use only. Unused balances are not refundable. No cash refunds or reactivation for returns. Excludes tax/shipping charges and purchase of Gift Cards and Musician’s Services (Guitar Center Lessons, Guitar Center Rentals, Guitar Center Repairs). Gear Card Rewards are only redeemable at Guitar Center stores, on guitarcenter.com or by calling 877-687-5403.

What if I return an item I bought with a Gear Card Rewards certificate? Returned merchandise purchased with Gear Card Rewards will be eligible for an exchange only at the time of the return. The reward points will not be returned to your account and you will not receive cash, store credit, or a new Gear Card Rewards certificate.

Guitar Center Gear Card Rewards Program Terms

By participating in the Guitar Center Gear Card Rewards Program, you hereby agree to be bound by these terms. In order to receive the benefits of the Gear Card Rewards Program, you need to:

1. Make purchases with your Guitar Center Gear Card, earning the necessary level of points. The Gear Card Rewards Program is automatically available for your Guitar Center Gear Card account, if it is open, in good standing and not more than two (2) payments past due, both at the time points are earned and at the time Gear Card Rewards Certificates ("Gear Card Rewards" or sometimes referred to as "Loyalty Rewards" or "rewards") are issued and redeemed. For every dollar in net purchases (merchandise purchased minus returns and adjustments) charged to the Guitar Center Gear Card at any Guitar Center store location in the United States and/or on guitarcenter.com or by calling 866-498-7882, you will earn 5 reward points. If returns and adjustments exceed purchases in any billing statement period, this could result in negative reward points. You may see reward points advertised as percentage back on purchases (e.g., 5% back in rewards), which is the same calculation of reward points as previously described, but expressed differently. You may also see reward points advertised as a dollar amount (e.g., earn $10 in Gear Card Rewards for every 1000 reward points or earn $10 in Gear Card Rewards for every $200 in purchases). Each time you earn 1000 reward points in a consecutive 12 month period, you will receive $10 in Gear Card Rewards. The amount of the Gear Card Rewards will be in $10 increments for every 1000 points in your reward points balance at the time that your Gear Card Rewards are issued, up to $100 maximum per certificate. Cardholder reward points expire 12 months from the date on which they are earned. Thus, you have 12 months to reach the 1000 reward points threshold needed to earn $10 in Gear Card Rewards. Fees and finance charges do not earn reward points.
2. Receive Gear Card Rewards with your billing statement. Gear Card Rewards will be issued and mailed up to three billing periods after your net reward points balance equals or exceeds 1000 points. Your reward points balance will automatically be reduced by 1000 reward points for every $10 in Gear Card Rewards issued to you. Gear Card Rewards will expire 90 days from the date of issuance with your statement.
3. Present and redeem Gear Card Rewards in accordance with the Gear Card Rewards Program Terms. To redeem Gear Card Rewards, you must come to a Guitar Center store, go online to guitarcenter.com, or call 866-498-7882 by the expiration date shown on the Gear Card Rewards certificate. Gear Card Rewards redeemed in-store must be surrendered at time of purchase. To redeem Gear Card Rewards online at guitarcenter.com, you must enter the barcode number printed on the Gear Card Rewards certificate. You acknowledge that the reward points have no value and that reward points and any Gear Card Rewards issued are purely promotional and are provided without the payment of any consideration or other thing of value. Unless and until you present the Gear Card Rewards certificate at a Guitar Center store or redeem it online at guitarcenter.com or by calling 866-498-7882, no right, title, or interest in the reward points or the Gear Card Rewards has been earned. Reward points are forfeited upon the closing of a Guitar Center Gear Card account or termination of the Gear Card Rewards Program. We reserve the right to remove any person from the Gear Card Rewards Program in the event of any fraud or abuse in connection with this program. We reserve the right to change or terminate the Gear Card Rewards Program at any time and in any manner without notice. The Gear Card Rewards Program is offered by Synchrony Bank to Guitar Center Gear Card holders.
