This is a great starter kit for a beginner. Like anything, you get what you pay for. With that said, the big plus here is you really don't HAVE to buy anything else to start playing. After about two weeks, I did purchase some Remo pinstripe heads and they made an enormous difference in the sound quality (also put a blanket in the kick with the stock heads which got rid of the annoying, in my opinion, delay). The next purchase will be to replace the cymbals...as mentioned by others, the ones included are awful. However, they are something to hit and practice on for the time being. As far as construction goes, everything went seemlessly together, with the exception of the bass drum hoops. Since this is my first kit, I can't speak as to how quality ones are, but mine were slightly out of round and a pain in the butt to install. Everything else was fine and tuning was easy. All things considered, I would definitely recommend this as a starter kit.

I got this kit with the midnight black and after 7 years, it's still rockin' I mean yeah, the factory heads and cymbals suck. But you always want to replace those immediately. give this kit some good cymbals and heads and its perfect for its price! I put some Evans Emads on my bass drums (Because I ordered 2 for the kit) and the kick is so powerful!! some black chrome batter heads for the toms and you're in business! Just tune all the heads right, get some nice cymbals, and this kit will give you some nice deep tones you're looking for. I promise! Had this kit for 7 years and it's still my baby!

These drums were okay at first, but the heads on the toms wore down quickly and the cymbals and hi-hats have terrible sound. I do not recommend this product.

I had this kit for about a year and a half. It was good at first but once I started playing gigs and recording videos it became very impractical. I recently purchased an OCDP set and there's no comparison. This D2 is perfect if your just starting out.
