Description
With the size and weight of a typical single stompbox, the MS-50G includes a thorough lineup of high-quality effects types. It features 47 stompbox effects and 8 amp models. Along with distortion, reverb, modulation and other classic effects, its amp models simulate some of the most prized pieces of live and studio gear.
The LCD shows the current effect in use, while the scrolling function allows you to easily view the flow of your effects chain. With this intuitive, easy-to-use interface, creating amazing sounds is a breeze.
The MS-50G allows you to utilize up to six effects simultaneously, as well as arrange them in any combination. This gives you the ability to craft classic sounds, as well as lush, complex tones. Leave the rules you learned behind and enjoy creative freedom with the MS-50G.
Add 55 effects to your pedalboard
Cut down the size of your pedalboard by adding in MS-50G to the mix. From a single pedal, you'll have 55 effects types waiting at your feet to be called up no matter have often you need them.
Tweak your settings with ease
The MS-50G's front panel features three parameter knobs, which also function as buttons. These buttons can be used to open various menus, where you can then use the parameter knobs to tweak your effects settings to your liking. Remove and/or rearrange effect units, turn the AUTO-SAVE function ON and OFF, recall patches and more with ease and efficiency.
Realistic, high-quality audio design
The cutting-edge ZFX-IV DSP processor can execute sophisticated algorithms using 32-bit floating-point calculations. A sigmoid curve clipper helps create the smoothly clipped waveform characteristics of tubes, providing the most realistic modeling sounds and richest harmonic components to date.
Onboard auto-chromatic guitar tuner
Hold the footswitch down to activate the built-in chromatic tuner in an instant. Even on stage during a performance, all you need to do is move your foot to enable tuning. You can choose between a BYPASS mode that turns all the effects off and a MUTE mode that allows you to tune silently.
Tap the tempo using the footswitch
Use the Tap Tempo feature to set the tempo in real-time to the rhythm of a song as you play guitar. You can also use it to for delay times and modulation effect frequencies.
* The tuner cannot be used when the tap tempo function is active.
Program the order of your patches
With the MS-50G, you can program which patches are recalled and the order in which they appear. For example, you could select three patches-(A) CLEAN TONE, (B) HEAVY RIFF and (C) LEAD SOLO—so that you can cycle through them each time you press the footswitch. You can create and save up to 50 original tones in this way.
Presets that are available right-out-of-the box
The MS-50G includes 30 preset patches that can be used to get great guitar tones the moment you open the box. These patches offer a wide variety of guitar sounds that use famous stompbox/amp models and settings. You can use these.
Support for line recording
In addition to the 8 amp models from the G3 and G5, studio-level compressor and reverb effects are also built in to the MS-50G. The pedal's stereo output jacks allow you to use line connections for direct recording of its powerful guitar sounds.
Output modes for stage and studio
Different output modes for the amp modeling function allow you to optimize the MS-50G's tones based on how you connect it to your rig. In addition to having modes for the front inputs of combo and stack amps, the MS-50G can be used as a preamp when connected to a power amp input. You can also achieve realistic amp sounds optimal for recording by selecting the direct mode for line connections.
7 hours operation on batteries
Using two AA alkaline batteries (sold separately), you can operate the MS-50G for up to 7 hours continuously. From rehearsal to the main stage, you can use the MS-50G with confidence. Power the pedal via AC adapter (sold separately) or USB bus, if you want to use it longer without worrying about battery life.
Stay up to date via USB
When connected to your computer and Zoom's website via USB, you can perform system firmware updates to keep the functions of your MS-50G on the cutting edge.

I will always have one when I play live

Let me start by saying that my full pedalboard is a Boss TU3W >(All Strymon midnight series pedals) compadre> riverside> deco> Mobius> timeline> Bigsky> iridium… so I have a decent idea about good tone… I am a professional musician, playing a minimum of two times a week. I play live often times using just an MS50G. I have a set of patches that I use depending on which guitar I use and am very happy with the tone. I love how light it is and how it runs off of batteries. This is a perfect backup rig, or a quick solution if you just need to grab and go. It's also a great Swiss Army knife. I don't care that it's 10 years old, it still has great reverb, delay and better modulation than the helix. Additionally with the 3.1 update you have access to dozens of other drives, amps, and mods/delays/reverbs that weren't stock with the pedal. I love the Two Rock amp model and the Sweet Drive. The Dual Reverb is amazing as well. There isn't really a better deal in the guitar world than this pedal. It covers every base.
Very handy, & surprisingly good sound quality!

This is a cool little unit! As a I've heard others say, this is like a Swiss army knife to have around. Could come in really handy, & can be whatever you need it to be. From a full signal chain, to a single delay, chorus, flanger, reverb, or distortion. Or any combination of these, & the price doesn't suck either. Surprisingly good quality effects!

I got the Zoom MS-50G on a trade for some equipment that I had. I actually got two of them and have already recommended them to some friends. I saw the Zoom MS-70CDR on youtube videos. A few people were using them for ambient guitar music and a few people were using it with their synth. The Zoom MS-50G and the Zoom-70CDR are almost the same. The latter has a stereo input and both have a stereo output. The version that came in the mail had updated firmware. The 50 effects became more. These can be linked into a chain of six effects. There are some limits. They are digital effects and the more complex effects if chained together in a row of six could overwhelm the processor and have latency issues. But this is rare. The main reason why I got that units is because they can emulate some expensive ambient synths that can be $300. One video I watched compared them and I could not hear any difference. I am still learning right now and have not verified everything that I have seen in the videos. I am looking forward to trying out the software editor so that I can download patches for use and also one video has posted the patches used with a synth so that others can use them. I am using them with analog synths and with a Tanpura rather than a guitar. A cautionary note is that the unit is really a small computer dedicated to effects and has limited dials. You either get used to working within this small GUI or learn to use their editor software. The dedicated pedals have dials are easier to use. But the advantage is that this one emulates about 100 of those pedals and in combinations of six modules. The patches can be shared. You just need to hang out with the learning curve. I consider this an okay since once you find your effect then you can keep using them. I do not plan to need more than a few. Right now I am experimenting with them one effect at a time without combining them in a chain and liking the choices and how much change they produce.

Review date. 08/24/2018 Zoom Multistomp MS-50G. Excellent. Kicks the Line 6 M5 out the door. I had the Line 6 M5 for a few weeks and although the sounds and functions were great it only did one effect at a time. The Zoom Multistomp MS-50G can have up to 6 FX in a patch and you can line up patches in a toggle through order A-B-C-D-E, ... etc. Then back to A again. The sounds and functions are very good. I use it for my acoustic electric. The 2 band parametric EQ and 6 Band pedal EQ allow me to get a very nice tone. After that the Z-Clean PreAmp adds some depth, then compression if needed, then time based FX like chorus/reverb/delay. Up to 6 in a patch. I really like the Particle Reverb for a really nice ambient light organ chordal effect with slow intimate songs. Once you get used to it yo can use the FX Manager to simply remove a bunch of the not-so-useful stuff so yo don't have to waste time scrolling through to get to what you actually use. That's what I did. Since I don't use this for distortion and wacky weird FX I simply removed them with the FX Manager. They can be reinstalled at any time just as easily.
