Zoom

Description

Creators everywhere are using Zoom Handy Recorders—a powerful and portable recorder—to capture sound and sample audio for musical performances, songwriting sessions, rehearsals, seminars, conferences, journalism or capturing audio for video productions. The new H1n is its the ultimate take-anywhere recorder for every creator’s gear bag.
Sound Quality
The H1n's X/Y microphones capture high-quality stereo sound, supporting up to 24-bit audio at sampling rates of 44.1, 48, or 96 kHz in WAV and various MP3 formats.
New Controls
With the H1n, we’ve redesigned the user experience. One-touch button controls make it simple to record songs, audio-for-film, lectures, podcasting, and more. And its new monochromatic 1.25” LCD display is easy to read even in the brightest lighting conditions.
Distortion-Free Recording
An advanced onboard limiter offers distortion-free signal up to 120 dB SPL, cleanly recording the loudest of bands. A low-cut filter also helps eliminate pops and unwanted low-frequency rumble.
Unlimited Overdubbing
The overdub function lets you add layers of audio, allowing for richer and fuller sounding recordings.
Transcription Made Easy
The H1n’s Playback Speed Control lets you transcribe music, interviews and other types of recordings without altering pitch.
Don’t Miss the Moment
You can also set the H1n to auto-record, pre-record, and self-timer, making sure you always capture the moment.
Mark and Sync
New tone and slate generators make it easy to mark the start and stop points for syncing audio to video.
The Connections You Need
A ⅛" stereo mic/line input lets you record with your external microphones or other sound sources, and supplies plug-in power (2.5 volts). Connect headphones via the ⅛" headphones output with dedicated volume control. You can also use the H1n’s built-in speaker to listen to your recordings.
The H1n’s USB port provides a digital output of the stereo mix and allows data to be sent to and from your computer. It also allows the H1n to be used as a USB microphone and a microSD card reader.

use it with out confusion

I just recorded a play session with four musicians. I placed the unit in a plastic stand that I made and placed the zoom unit in the center of the room. It picked up and automatically balanced the voices and guitars of each of the players. Very clear sound, do not have to strain to hear individuals both in conversation, noodling, instrumentals, and vocals. This unit is very versatile. I have NO regrets that I purchased this unit over less expensive choices.. I still have a lot to learn about all of its functions and how to use them effectively. just recorded a play session with four musicians. Nice little recorder but the cubase software sucks

Use it to record ideas. Nice but not worth the price. You have to buy a usb elicenser for 30.00 to activate cubase software. Steinberg customer support is the worst. No help at all.

The H1n handy recorder is just what I needed, Super simple and easy to use. Has great recording quality choices. I use mine for recording song writing ideas (acoustic guitar and vocals). I mounted it to a low camera tripod so it's perfect while sitting. I am very impressed with it.

I use this product to record jam tracks for my lap steel guitar and my Stratocaster! Very easy to use and it's easy to record a whole song because it has unlimited overdubs .

I have a ZOOM iQ5 that has to be run through an iPad. It still works. But, my iPad is old and out of date [Apple no longer supports it]. The newer iPads are replacing the 'lightning connector' with the more universal USB-C. I didn't want to deal with having to buy a new iPad and trying to find a compatible attachable mic. So, I went With the ZOOM h1n which an all in one unit and is overall much easier to use. The h1n doesn't have adjustable stereo separation range like the iQ5/iPad set up had. But, for my needs, the h1n takes a lot of the hassle out of recording.

  • Great for recording live bands!

I used this H1n to record a live band jam, and it worked as I had hoped. No clipping because you can set the volume level using the volume dial. Sounds nice and warm. Definitely better than the mic on a cell phone or digital camera. I set the volume dial to about 3.5 to 4, and didn't even need to use the auto-level feature or the limiter. Later on, I can just normalize the levels to about -1 dB with a program like Audacity (free), etc. I also like that when in a hurry to record, turning the unit on is simple if you remember the process. Just slide down and hold the setting dial (which has a little groove if you can't see it or have trouble reading without glasses) for a couple of seconds, then release. Then wait a few seconds for it to initialize (LED screen will light up), then push on the red record button. I also like that this gadget can fit in your pocket. Some of the other recorders out there are bulkier.

  • really easy to use and great sound quality without editing

I have used to record my synthesizer and my guitar by placing it by my speakers or guitar amp. I am amazed at the sound quality and ease of use. I can record myself playing, offload the MP3s via USB and share with friends and family very easily. Battery life is pretty good. I was reluctant to record because I didn't want to have to mess with editing or music production. I like to just play. I am really happy with the sound quality, no weird compression or clipping. Picks up reverb trails but seems to keep out any background noise really well. I do not detect any noise from the device itself. No problems with 60 cycle hum, it actually records less than my ears pick up off the amp from my single coils.

Hello. I'd love to buy this either today or tomorrow. But before I do, I really need to know what else I need that does not come already in the box. Do I need a special cable to transfer the audio files to my Windows computer? If so, what kind? I have a microphone, so no issue there. I am afraid to buy this and use it and then be missing something.

    Open Reply - Ronald
This comes with the cable you need, so you'll have everything needed to record right out of the box.

Does this device have 2 microphones, so as to get somewhat of a stereo sound? And can you adjust the record level for loud live band situations?

    Open Reply - Thomas
Yes. It has on board limiting. You won't distort it.

Will I be able to live stream with this product if I connect the 3dio FS binaural microphone to it and connect the h1n to my computer?

    Open Reply - Ronald
It doesn't work in that aspect. You would have to record to the SD card and then upload it to your computer.
