Zoom B1X FOUR Bass Multi-Effects Processor with Expression Pedal comes out of the box with a lot of very usable presets. You get totally decent sound from most of the effects. Also, a drum machine and a looper are built-in. There's a slight learning curve but it's not too steep. Easily create your own patches and quickly place your virtual pedals in any order to explore what works best for you. I found a lot of cool tones in the first 30 minutes of using this multi-effects processor and I'm able to hear what editing effects sounds like immediately. Connecting the B1X Four vis USB to your computer / DAW is key to opening up a universe of creative possibilities. The free Zoom Guitar Lab software makes editing the virtual pedals a breeze and a lot of fun. The price on this Zoom unit is too good to pass up. Added bonuses: This is a great practice-with-headphones amp. Power via battery or AC power brick or USB is a brilliant design.
The Mix5 is great for small pedalboards.

I play bass and guitar, considering buying this to use for both. will this work/ sound good on my electric guitar?
It will work with the guitar, but the sound may not be optimal since it's designed for bass.
