Pro's: Loud, sturdy cabinet, strong exterior finish Cons: Heavy, large, fan never shuts off, no 1/4 TRS or RCA inputs. Boomy narrow bandwidth output. No deep bass. Nothing below 53Hz (-15dB by 50Hz). The last octave of audio from 25-50Hz is completely missing. Smallest frequency range of any speaker I've seen. I have a nice clock radio with a small 4" woofer that sounds richer and deeper than this 12" speaker. This is not really a "subwoofer" since it can only hit a couple notes centered around 70Hz. The only way it would produce audible bass below 53Hz was to give it a large +16dB boost at 45Hz. That brought it up to almost audible levels but it can't be reliably ran that way with much headroom left. I can find no use for the speaker. Based on the positive reviews it appears that none of them ever used a quality or real subwoofer before, something flat to 25Hz, or even 35 to compare to (since it's bizarre to say thing speaker sounds good). Published specs under optimal lab conditions claims -10dB at 45Hz. That's not very good but it's actually around -20dB at 45Hz. There is almost no output at 45Hz. The main output literally spans about 4 notes; from 60Hz up to around 80Hz depending which upper crossover point is selected. The notes it can hit are B1 (62Hz) C2 (65Hz) D2 (73Hz) and E2 (82Hz). Notes substantially above or below that aren't within it's range. Using a 2Ghz function generator and a calibrated microphone flat from +-1dB from 15Hz - 20Khz at 1 meter, 1/2 space I recorded it's output at 1m and 2m, and there is a JPG response chart attached. 70Hz is the peak output, +3dB relative to other notes. All notes above or below that are at reduced volume. 60Hz -3dB 53Hz -10dB (barely audible) 45Hz -20dB (almost nothing) 35Hz nothing. 25Hz nothing

  • I would recommend this can to anyone.

I use this 2 subs with k-10 Qcs perfect with the yamaha 12 channel I had purchase 2- 12 subs not bad but they don't have the punch I wanted. Alittle pricy but you pay for what you get and compare withe QSC you can save about $ 600.00

  • Excellent powered subwoofer

Have used this sub only in a rehearsal situation but so far I has performed flawlessly. Clean and powerful when paired with QSC K 12s. Using with tracks for a trio that does everything from Motown, classic rock, funk, country etc and this sub just is awesome. Bought it used at GC for AM incredible deal, I just could not pass up even though I was looking for less weight. Compared side by side with KSub and their was no contest. The DXS15 just had a bigger sound because of the 15s. I know it's an apples and oranges comparison but the KSub just sounded weaker so I could not justify the purchase regardless of size and weight. Which brings me to the only con which is the weight. Last but not least this GC manager made me a deal I could refuse. It has made me think more favorable of Guitar center for sure.
