    As the title states, it sounds decent. It's not a bad overdrive, but nothing impressive to my ears. It still sound too... artificial to me, but I'm very picky about that as I prefer the multi stage FET designs to the diode clipped tones. This pedal gets a lot of good press, so it must have great sounds in some setups, but nothing I put it through (Fender Princeton, '57 Custom, Marshall 1987, 2203, Vox AC30) sounded good enough, so I sent it back.

    After owning a lot of overdrives I chose this as my only overdrive. Its just better than anything else. If your serious about tone and need to rely on your sound maybe you should look into it.

    I have been using this preamp with my Fender HotRod Deluxe amp and circa 1995 Parker Fly for about four months. It was recommended to me by a staffer at GC. I am extremely happy with the purchase. It is simplicity to use with four knobs (gain, volume and EQ- bass/treble. The gain knob goes from a smooth overdrive to a monsterous hi-gain. The BB adds a rich harmonic content to my sound and the bypass adds no coloration that I can detect. The box itself is tough metal and seems bullet proof. Still, last week I unfortunately slammed on a knob with one of my size 12 shoes and 200+Lb frame and cracked it. Since I like to keep my gear in pristine shape, I went to the Xotic site and put in a written request for a knob. I specified I was willing to pay for the part and postage etc. I received a response from "Tim" at Xotic the same day. He subsequently sent me a complete set of knobs at no charge and sent me a note on how to remove the broken knob. Awesome is all I can say. Couldn't recommend these Xotic products more based on my experience with the pedal and their staff
