Warm Audio

collapse expand iconDescription

Designed to capture the warm, vintage acoustics of the original ’47, Warm Audio offers the WA-47 tube condenser microphone, with much greater accessibility. With universal application of studio, home or live use, the versatility of this mic lends itself to any situation without comprising on sound quality. Paying homage to its predecessor, the sonic character of this mic gives a balanced range with the richness you’re looking for, at a value that cannot be beaten.

Custom Reproduction Gives Pristine Sound

The dual-diaphragm, gold-sputtered, large K47-style capsule, is a reproduction of the vintage dual-backplate K47 capsule to bring you that sumptuous, authentic ’47 sonic character. Another critical component of this mic is the 5751 vacuum tube that gives velvety, rich acoustics to truly remind you why the original ’47 was so beloved. To further supply a rounded and smooth sound, is the large-core TAB (AMI) transformer, made in the USA but with German laminations to really deliver the lauded German analog audio sound. Having WIMA, Solen French and polystyrene capacitors throughout, the WA-47 gives a reliable and balanced tone.

Vintage Acoustics With Accessible Features

After extensive research, Warm Audio decide to use a Gotham Audio GAC-7 cable. Learning about how 7-pin cables can reduce phase shift and increase top-end presence, Gotham Audio seemed the logical choice to partner with for their high-end, Swiss-produced cabling to provide the best sonic choice for this condenser mic. There are nine polar patterns: cardioid, omni, figure-8, and six mixed patterns all provide a balanced frequency response for ultimate versatility. With a bright top end and a rich low end, the WA-47 is a compelling option for anyone looking for that classic ‘47 sound.

It's big and beefy, and it sounds that way, too. Is it dead on to a real vintage 47? No clue, but I like this mic a lot. It basically makes stuff sound big. I use it mostly for vocals and acoustic guitar, into a DAW or into an old Tascam 4-Track tape deck. I wouldn't call it a subtle mic, but that's what I like about it.

I've used a vintage 47, a flea 47 plus a few others I don't remember and you will not find a better deal at this price point. The wa-47 sounds just as rich and dynamic. I could never afford the others, so I'm grateful to have such a fine option.

  • Beautiful "warm" sound

This has become my go-to vocal mic. It has a warmth to it yet is still very clear. Most every vocalist I record sounds great through it.

I've been singing professionally for years and have recorded through a lot of mics from different brands and models and price ranges. This mic can't be beat, especially at this price. It is clear and has a warm tone that is hard to find in other mics. It is by far my favorite recording mic.

  • Good solid warm sounding mic

Had this about a week now so this is just a quick comment. It's heavy... feels solidly built... I have a baritone voice but it still makes me sound better, very warm with no eq... really worked well on a girl I know who sang while her husband played guitar (kind of a mix of folk and church songs they wrote)...no eq either... all I got so far, but can't go wrong with this Warm WA-47.

    Current Mics:

Sennheiser 441u

Shure SM7B

MXL V69 me

Neumann TLM49

Audio Technica stereo pair 2021

I have the MXL tube mic, but it is the weakest mic I have....besides all my stage dynamics
of several brands.

Looking at a better tube mic, with a traditional warmth, and a bit of higher end sparkle, without being harsh.

Some mics that I have read about include:

Avantone C12

Avantone B12

Warm 47

Mojave 200

Aston Spirit

AT 4047

Roll off is a nice feature, but since I can roll off in the mix, not a necessary feature.

Multi pattern is not needed.

Mic is to used chiefly for male snd female vocals.

Running through Avalon M5, or Apogee Quartet.

Seeking some suggestions and recommendations. I might already have my bases covered.
But, just wondering what mic could give me another option tone wise.

This is a great mic! I am currently running the AKG P820 Project Studio Tube Microphone and am loving the tone it gives. I would recommend it and this mic as well.
