Wampler Pinnacle Standard Distortion Pedal

Description
With two separate styles of gain structure, a powerful mid contour (from scooped to mid hump) control and a control that squeezes out every ounce of tone from your guitar, you’ll notice that the Pinnacle is called that for a very good reason.
Although extremely versatile, the Pinnacle from Wampler is well known for giving the “Brown Sound”, the tone and style of distortion made famous by Eddie Van Halen. Zeke Clark (Van Halen’s longtime renowned guitar tech) played through a pinnacle and this is what he had to say: “I’ve played tons of pedals that promised that “Brown Sound;” this pedal nails it better than anything I’ve ever heard or played.”

Epic Distortion/Overdrive Pedal

I feel like this pedal gets dismissed as an EVH brown sound only pedal. It does in fact do that very well, but it's so much more diverse than that. I play mostly modern pop/punk rock along with modern metal and 80's metal. This pedal covers all the bases in terms of distortion and gain for the various genres. The modern/vintage toggle is an extremely useful feature to have. If you turn the gain up all the way up and toggle to vintage, you can really let loose some wild 80's metal licks. Toggle it to modern and start with the contour at 12 o' clock. From there you can dial the tone knob in conjunction with the contour to find your happy spot in terms of distortion. The boost is a nice feature if you really want to play into max overdrive... and I really mean MAX. The boost feature is a little much for me and can create quite a bit of hiss. This is obviously something that can be resolved with a secondary noise gate. The pedal itself is extremely sturdy and the true bypass is also great. Definitely use with a 9V jack as this thing drains 9V batteries quickly. The knobs are top notch and very smooth and reactive.
