Walrus Audio Ages Overdrive Effects Pedal Platinum

The five-position rotary knob offers the following gain states: Low-gain mode with symmetric silicon soft clipping, which is compressed and smooth. Low-gain mode with symmetric LED soft clipping, for a pushed, open and sparkly sound. High-gain mode with symmetric silicon soft clipping for increased saturation and tightness. High-gain mode with symmetric LED soft clipping, which is saturated, punchy and big. High-gain mode with symmetric silicon hard clipping for heavy compression and thick and chewy tone. Think of each position as a different "flavor" of the pedal. Fine-tune each of these gain states with the dry knob for a near infinite supply of gain options.

OD is very flexible and can cover a wide range of tones. The wet/dry knob and clipping knob are the real winners.
versatile replacement for Timmy

I really liked my MXR Timmy but I just don't like mini pedals. The ages is similar in clipping options except with more useful options for me. It's full size and potentiometers are smooth so its easy to control/adjust. It really is the right amount of versatility for overdrive (not distortion). The only drawback is that the limited edition color is hard to read but at the discounted price I paid, its worth it once you're familiar with the controls. Really a great pedal and this and a few others have really turned me on to Walrus Audio products.
