collapse expand iconDescription

The ARP-87 is a compact, feature-rich delay, packed with a large pallet of inspirational delay tones. Featuring four main algorithms, digital, analog, lo-fi, and slap back, the ARP-87 can cover some serious ground in the world of echoes. The digital algorithm boasts pristine, crystal clear repeats great for rhythmic riffs. The Analog setting works well to add warmth and dimension to chords and lines without getting in the way. The Lo-Fi algorithm, with its adjustable frequency range on the repeats, goes from warm, warped and murky, to straight AM radio. Finally, the Slap setting makes it easy to dial in a great slap back echo perfect for smoking chicken pickin’ runs. With other features like our smart bypass switching, and momentary knob ramp, the ARP-87 provides endless creative opportunities that are waiting to be explored.

The X knob changes functions depending on which Algorithm you are using. It adjusts a specific parameter in each algorithm. In Digital, Analog, and Slap modes, the knob will control modulation depth. In Lo-fi mode, the knob will control Filter width.

Note that when changing delay types this loads a whole new algorithm and the tempo must be tapped in again.

Trails Mode
The ARP-87 can be run in trails or no trails mode. In trails mode, when you turn the pedal off, the delay trails die off naturally. In no trails mode, the delay trails are abruptly cut off when you turn the pedal off. To toggle between either mode, hold down the bypass switch for 1 second while applying power to the pedal. Unplug power and repeat to toggle to the other mode.

Momentary Functions
When the switch is in off position, press and hold the Bypass Switch to temporarily activate the effect to add a moment of delay texture. Releasing the switch turns the effect off. When the effect is on, press and hold the bypass switch to momentarily ramp the X parameter to maximum. Releasing the switch sets the X parameter back to the knob location.

Press and hold the Tap Switch to temporarily ramp the feedback to maximum. Release to set the feedback back to the knob location.

The ARP-87 comes in a Frosted Charcoal finish with cream and seafoam ink featuring original artwork by Chris Castro of a lone ship traveling through the ARP-87 Galaxies.

First off I do like this pedal. It sounds great. The digital, analog, & low-fi settings add nice delay flavors, plus you can modulate the delays a bit. However, when you change a function setting (ex. going from "digital" to "analog" delay), the pedal resets the delay rate to its stored preset. I did not care for always having to reestablish my rate of delay. I bought this pedal to replace an Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master (reverb + delay). But, having them in a direct comparison, I decided to keep my Dispatch Master on my board. Again, the ARP 87 wasn't a bad pedal. My pedal board is a nano so there's limited slots. The EQD Dispatch Master was the better pedal for me.

This pedal pumps out some of the best ambient delay sounds I've ever heard. It's so clear and has great a range of sounds without some of the useless delay effects you'd probably never want to use like infinite repeats. The criticism I have is the constant blinking light, but that has nothing to do with the tone!

I love this pedal. It sounds great, and I especially love the ability to control the amount of modulation on the repeats with the "X" knob. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of a rate knob. The only way to change the rate of the repeats is with the tap tempo and/or the ratio knob. It's also a little annoying that the rate of the repeats changes when you change the algorithm, but not too big a deal.

great delay with a plethora of options, though a bit pricey for a stomp box. many tonal possibilities, but can be very "transparent" if that is what you want. the attack is a bit crisp for my tastes in all modes, but certainly workable. secret mode on tap that adds a sort of spring reverb slap-back delay to the listed 4 modes. Walrus Audio makes great stuff - this delay lives up to their reputation

Such a clear and fun delay. It can be mucky and wild too.
