VOX Wah Pedals Comparison/Demo

VOX developed the world's first Wah Wah effect during the '60s to give guitarists the ability to sound like a trumpet being muted-an important musical ingredient of the day. VOX's original Wah Wah pedal quickly gained widespread popularity and its unique sonic characteristics have encouraged further experimentation by guitarists ever since.

good, but short range
i got this pedal because it was cheap. let me start off by saying its very well made, and for 60s music its GOLD. but for me, who plays metal and rock, its not so great. that because its sweep isnt as wide as some other pedals. even putting down my foot as slowly as i could emitted a short wah and painfully heartless wah. now for someone who wants to play Hendrix or something, its great, but not for someone who plays metal and needs a wide sweep. so, in short: if you need a wide sweep, dont get this, get a morley. if you dont need the wide sweep, get it, by all means!

Crybaby is Better
I've had this wah for about a month, and I noticed a few problems. The pot got dirty very easily, and was very noisy even after I cleaned it. Also, when the pedal is bypassed, a lot of high end and output are lost. The owner of my local music shop referred me to a crybaby original wah, and the bypass barely effects the tone and the sound is much richer and clearer.

This is a great pedal! My first wah, and I love it. Make sure to wear shoes while using it (I like playing in my room and it is impossible to turn on/off without shoes). The sound quality is very responsive and just great overall; I will be using this pedal for quite some time yet.

Instead of a good sounding wahhh you get a wuh. I had the old one back in 1969 and it was fantastic, but they have really cheapened up on the sound and response of this pedal. Its nothing like the old ones. I even asked Korg who makes them now and all they did was blame it on my equipment. Now I have a full stack Marshal DSL 100, new fender Blackmore strat, and a Gibson LesPaul. Cant see why they would sidestep a problem by blaming my gear. I will not buy another vox wah pedal because they dont make them like they used to. The only reason for two stars is the construction is as good but the electronics are shoddy !

For the price, this is a great pedal. As with some cry baby's, the foot switch can sometimes be hard to press, and the battery required a little bit of work to fit. Pretty basic design, but it sounds good and is similar to a Dunlop. It can replicate late 60's and early 70's sounds well.
Sounds great plays great

Buying this as a gift for my husband. What type of cable to I purchase? He has a vox amp. Do I just get a vox guitar cable?
You will need a 9V DC power adapter and a 1/4 inch instrument cable.
