VOX Mini5 Rhythm Modeling Guitar Combo Amplifier Ivory

Description
A rich variety of amp models and effects
There are 11 realistic amp models taken from the flagship Valvetronix Series that support a broad range of styles and playing techniques, including perfect simulations of the legendary VOX AC30 that capture the sense of drive typical of vacuum tubes, as well as models of intensely powerful high-gain amps and transparent, clean types. New to the series is a built-in VOX original "Bassilator" circuit, which covers the ultra-low-frequency overtones that cannot be obtained via EQ. This is particularly effective for high-gain models and produces an intensely heavy sound that seems unthinkable from an amp of this size. In addition, there's a pure and clean-sounding LINE input without any distortion, making it an ideal choice for acoustic-electric guitars or keyboards. There's also a full complement of effects, including compressor, chorus, flanger, and tremolo, as well as delay/reverb types. With a total of eight varieties of effects, you'll have plenty of options for shaping your sound.
Versatile rhythm functions
As its name suggests, the MINI5 Rhythm features a newly added rhythm function. It provides 11 built-in rhythms in styles that include 8-beat, 16-beat, rock, metal, and R&B, as well as a built-in metronome. With nine variations for each style, you'll have a generous 99 rhythm patterns to work with. You can easily call up the rhythm pattern you want and adjust its tempo and volume for a great way to jam along with high-quality rhythm patterns, to try out ideas for a new riff or phrase, or to practice playing to a beat to improve your performances. Since these rhythm patterns cover a wide range of musical styles, it is easier to get into the feel of the song being played, making otherwise routine personal practice sessions more enjoyable.
Battery-powered operation
The MINI5 Rhythm features two-way power that can run on batteries (six AA batteries) or an AC adapter (included). Batteries allow up to approximately 19.5 hours of operation (with POWER SELECT set to 0.1W), making this amp an ideal choice for street performances or outdoor playing. It also comes with a carrying strap for easy transport, letting you enjoy playing guitar wherever inspiration may strike.
Plenty of input/output jacks, ideal for the singer/performer
In addition to a guitar input, the MINI5 Rhythm also provides additional types of input and output jacks. The mic input provides an adjustable volume and lets you apply a delay/reverb effect, providing support for vocals. There's also an AUX input that can accept an external audio source such as an MP3 player. It can be used in conjunction with a guitar and mic, for a total of three inputs simultaneously. Also provided is a headphone/line out jack with a built-in cabinet simulator so that when you're recording directly into a multi-track recorder or practicing with headphones, you can obtain the same great cabinet resonance you'd get if you had set up a mic in front of the amp.
Switchable power amp wattage
By switching the wattage, you can regulate the volume while still retaining the sense of drive and air obtained by turning the master volume all the way up. The wattage can be switched in three levels: 5 / 1.5 / 0.1W.

Best amp in the world!
The VOX Mini 5 Rythem amp. does more for me than any amp. I've ever heard of let alone owned. It lets me plug in my Yamaha CM500 head set into the mic. channel and headphone jack for great vocals with my choice of several reverb and delay options with or without the headphones on one channel with seperate volume and reverb controls for that channel. Then it gives a modeling guitar amp, clean to strong over drive and many choices inbetween.Again, a sepreate volume and gain for the guitar channel. The cherry on top is the built in drums with its own volume and tempo control.I play guitar and sing with the drums and I can balance the sound, and its portable. Comes with the AC adapter.Best amp.in the world!

False Advertising on Guitarcenter.com
Overall, this is a great little amp., but the 'double ivory' color scheme was briefly offered back in 2015 as a 'limited edition' item. Finally seeing this color scheme pictured again on Guitar Center's website, I placed the order. But surprisingly after opening the box, it's the same old 'regular ivory' model with the black corners/black metal grill that's been offered for the past three yrs. Did they suddenly change the picture on guitarcenter.com to intentionally mislead people? That's what I asked the GC customer service rep., but he just didn't seem to care. And then I called Korg, the manufacturer to confirm whether or not they've re-released these in 'double-ivory'. Nope! So this is a clear case of false advertising, and now I'll be making a special trip over there to return this item. But first I'm posting a review in order to save others the time and trouble.

I've had this product out for busking only once so far, but I made ten singles without trying. I had no mic I could use with it, and that's why I haven't been out again. I wanted a mic I could use while holding/playing a guitar, had trouble finding one, and settled on an inexpensive wireless unit; don't mess around with anything like a condenser/electret mic as they need phantom power and this unit doesn't provide it. The unit has an Aux input I put a smartphone through for backing tracks and other music. Could be louder, I guess, but it will suffice until it makes me enough money to spring for a larger and more powerful unit. I could also mention that I used the amp for the first time while playing for my father in a hospital-like setting, where the variable power helped me keep everything from getting obnoxious.

Pretty good for the money. Wish it had digital tempo read-out so you could sync the beat to drum machine or synth or whatever, but really not a deal breaker. The FX are good but not strong, and it seems to handle multiple inputs all going at once pretty well. It's basically just like the Vox DA5 but with the rhythm beats. The DA 5 is a full $100 cheaper, you can get them for $50 used, but the beats on the Mini5 are really useful for practicing time on your own or when you don't want to mess with an external drum machine. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it should have digital tempo read out.
