Vic Firth SD4 American Custom Combo Drum Sticks Wood

These sticks are my go-to when needing a softer touch. Made of maple, they produce a warmer and darker tone on cymbals than hickory sticks. The small rounded tip brings out the articulation of the hi hat and ride cymbals in particular.

I've used this model for many years and love the weight and balance of the maple. The barrel tip sounds great on cymbals and these sticks are not too heavy to use for jazz, but can be used for heavier music with no problem.

I have been looking for a lighter stick for a small venue that play at and I came across these SD4s. Maple is great for weight reduction and a lighter/softer strike. These get the job done.

this stick has been my number one touring stick ,because when you are touring planet earth with THE GODFATHER OF SOUL,I had to HAVE A STICK THATS THE EXACT WIEGHT THAT I NEED IT TO BE FOR DRIVING THAT FUNKY SOUL. When there is never a song list, but plenty of signals, I have to have a stick that is fast and reliable & able to carry the weight of the FUNK from HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOW BUSINESS.....'' I showed up without my stick bag one night. I was playing a friend's kit and I knew he had a bag of sticks to use. I took one look at these and thought, "Oh no! I'm going to hate these. But they'll get me through the night." WOW! I'm a light player, and they let me play fast without overpowering things. Fast and light at the same time! These totally impressed me and got me closer to the ideal I've been chasing for years. Who woulda thought? Not me. But I'm sold now. Great sticks for fast and light.
