Definitely a disappointment...

I've been playing the original Rute-X wood dowel sticks for a while now, and they really do play nicely. My only complain with those is that they break, which is what got me to try these. These just suck. They showed up seriously blemmed, it looked like the end of one of the dowels was somehow melted. I took a utility knife and whittled it smooth so they would play evenly. Then once I finally got to play with them the disappointment just got worse... They play WAY more like brushes (way lighter than the mediums), and the rubber o-rings used to adjust the attack just flew off and across the room within the first song! I've played both the medium and heavy and loved the way they both felt, good enough feel for paradiddles and rolls. They were both worth having in my stick bag, they just didn't last too long until one or two of the dowels broke. These are pretty much just a waste right out of the box, don't waste your money unless you want to play then wide open for a very soft sound.
Good balance.
