Versatile brush

By milo plum

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Vic Firth Jazz Brush Plastic Handle:

These brushes are louder than most, keeping that smooth jazz sweep on the snare, and you can do so much with that plastic handle. "Train-beat" with rimshots, you can hit the cymbal bell, cowbell, woodblock, toms and cymbal crashes. I played in a pit band in a musical show, and was able to play brushes along with woodblock and cowbell in a ragtime type song with these brushes. The plastic handle seems pretty strong and no sign of cracking. I play a lot of different stuff and these brushes are a mainstay of mine. I've got another pair in reserve just in case.

Versatile Brushes

By Dale Matthias

from Parma Ohio

Comments about Vic Firth Jazz Brush Plastic Handle:

I play a wide variety of styles, and they have proven to be very versatile. I use them from the full spread to just about 2 inches sticking out of handle, and everything in between. Good feel and balance ,for me anyway. Like them so much I have 2 pairs. They are just a little heavier and stiffer than others. Overall excellent brushes!

Competitive Price and Best Brush for Me

Pros

  • Good Quality
  • Nice Balance

Cons

  • Plastic near the brush flare needs strengthening

Best Uses

Comments about Vic Firth Jazz Brush Plastic Handle:

While I highly recommend the Vic Firth portfolio of products, I recommend that they beef up the plastic, especially near the flared brush opening end. I do not abuse my brushes, and yet I only get about a year out of these brushes. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I am sure that the manufacturing engineers at Vic Firth could easily incorporate a light rubber sleeve to absorb shock and prolong the life of this otherwise great brush

Comments about Vic Firth Jazz Brush Plastic Handle:

These brushes are great. They make brush playing more enjoyable due to good bounce and high note definition. I can do multi stroke rolls with ease even with the brushes fully extended. They feel heavy and well balanced. The plastic handles are hard and capable of rim shots and taps etc..They are also well constructed and worth the price.
