This is most similar to a Vic Firth SD1. Even though this is Maple, which are usually light, this has some weight to it. Great stick for practice.

Let me start by saying I had used the hickory Power 5B for a little over four years - they were my go-to stick for heavier music. I love the slightly thicker grip and longer length vs the regular 5B, and as a particularly heavy player who really beats his sticks to within an inch of their life, I can honestly say I've never found a stick as durable as the Power 5B. That said, I decided to try out the maple version because they're a little lighter and I thought they might be a little more maneuverable around the kit. After playing them everyday for about a week, they're officially my new go-to stick. I love everything about them. You still keep the punch of the hickory's, but as I'd hoped they're waaay easier to get around the kit with speed and finese. I LOVE these sticks, and I think you will too. Definitely try them out!
