VHT Special 6 Ultra 6W Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Amp Head

The Special 6 Ultra head's added gain stage provides plenty of overdrive for searing leads, bone-crushing crunch, and gristly grind, while its amazingly effective variable Watts control can reduce the volume to whisper-quiet bedroom practice levels-while maintaining the same overdriven tone, texture and dynamic feel.
The Special 6 Ultra head features the same unique Volume and Tone controls as the original Special 6, the same footswitchable Boost, High/Low Power switch, and a similarly mod-friendly eyelet board. In addition, the Special 6 Ultra features a unique multi-position Depth control that fine-tunes the low-frequency depth; this feature allows you to carefully voice the amp's low-end to perfectly suit a wide range of guitars, pickups, speakers, and musical styles.
The Special 6 Ultra head ships with a 6V6 output tube for sweet clean and rich overdrive tones, and to accommodate tone-seeking experimenters, it can accept a wide range of alternate output tubes as well. The Special 6 Ultra also features an all-tube buffered effects loop.

Major Quality Issues

I purchased and returned 3 of these over the past 2 months. Each one had quality issues. The first one had a hum and a crackle/popping sound that would randomly occur while playing. The second amp had tolex issues. The tolex on the front panel under the logo was cut short and crooked. You could see the wood underneath. It was also peeling around the bottom right edge. The third amp had the same issue as the first one. I contacted VHT directly to see if they would make things right (please send me one that does not have the quality issues). They apologized and told me to return the amp. Very disappointed. After many attempts with this amp I finally gave up. I returned the last one today. VHT just lost a customer for life. I will not buy another VHT product. I can't imagine how they are going to survive as a company with these types of issues.

this amps gets compliments from other musicians but is hooked up with other low wattage combo with vintage 30 Bogner amp. great club sound, Bogner provides clean and slight distortion while the el34 in VHT head make it a fat tone pushing 2/12's

Great amp lots of features and great price cant find any other amp that comes close in this range , this amp has it all clean , crunch , and ultra dirty ! takes pedals well too, in front for analog and digital go in the loop . Also you can change the output tube to 6L6 or EL34 for more tonal variation , however a JJ 6V6 sounds the best imo ! sounds great through a 4x12 , 2x12 or 1x12 its very versatile !
WORST AMP I'VE EVER OWNED

So, I bought this about 50 days ago and I've used it less than 25 total hours. Now when in 6amp mode the sound is distorted or "clips" on clean or in ultra mode. Total waste of $340.00. I would rather have a solid state $80 Roland, Crate, or Suzuki amp any day over this doorstop of an amp. Wasted gobs of my money in the studio recording with this amp only to hear that noise after the fact and it is continually getting worse. I'd love to return it but I'm sensing that I may just have to break it into a million pieces inside the store when they refuse to take it back b/c it's past 30 days. Don't buy this, you will end up regretting every hard earned dollar you spent on it. I know I did, and now I have to buy a new replacement to add insult to injury.
