VHT

Description

The six-watt Special 6 guitar amp head gets its powerful tube sound from one 12AX7 preamp tube and one 6V6 output tube. It boasts a footswitchable Gain Boost feature that significantly expands its range of tones-it's the only amp in its class that excels at both clean and overdriven tones, and it's the only amp in its class to offer a footswitchable boost. With the Gain Boost, players can instantly toggle between clean rhythm tones and overdriven leads, essentially duplicating the footswitchable functions of a 2-channel amp in an all-tube, hand-wired, simple, 2-knob package.

To further expand its range of tones, the Special 6 also features a High/Low power switch that enhances low-volume tones with extra-smooth richness (when in half-power mode). It's a great feature for recording, or for low-volume "bedroom" players. In high-power mode, it's one of the few amps in its class that is loud enough to compete with a strong drummer.

The mod-friendly VHT Special 6 guitar amp head is easy to customize for home amp builders and tube-amp enthusiasts.

Great amp, produces that Fender Blackface sound at an affordable price. Tele blues, country and classic rock sounds awesome.

I have been playing for a long, long time. I have owned amps in the day when only tube amps existed. So I know good tube sound. However, over the years I gravitated towards SS amps most likely due to price and convenience and not as much active gigging. But as of late, I have been gigging more than in a long time. And I tried some small tube amps such as the Bugera 5 watt and the Epiphone tube amps but they left me wanting. I went through some SS and modeling amps and was not happy. So, I tried the VHT Special 6 and was thrilled. This amp mates up to my Ibanez semi-solids so well that I have found tube-tone bliss. Now I want to up the ante and buy another more powerful VHT...but all in good time. Right now for the band I am in (lead vocalist, bassist, myself on guitar, and a Hand Percussionist) this amp more than cuts it in a room of up to 50 people...and that is all I need...for right now.

When I bought this amp it was sight unseen and sound unheard. But I needed a practice amp. My logic was if I didn't like it I could move it on because it had a great price point. My Primary amp is a big expensive hand wired USA boutique amp, and is considered a pro level touring amp. Problem it sounds horrible until you turn it up a bit. Enter this little guy. When I first turned it on it was quiet. in fact when you are not strumming it is totally silent. no hum, no buzz, no hiss nothing. Silent. Hmm this is nice, only two knobs so it only take about a minute to set up for your personal sweet spot. Easy. The tone in not just good. Its phenomenal. So much so that I am now using it for everything except gigging, where I need a bit more volume at times. The clean headroom is great. I want clean headroom, I don't want the early breakup on my practice amp. I can use pedals for that to achieve tone at low volume. Its a 5 star device. The fit and finish is great. Better than much of the more expensive products. Yes I know it is manufactured in China, but so is the IPhone. The factory where this is made is putting out a quality product. The only knock on this amp is that the footswitch is a bit cheap. but its a one button footswitch so I just use one from one of my other amps. If you are seeking a smaller amp, there is no reason to spend more. I am still in awe that I can get such great tone at this price point. It actually makes me rethink The amp world completely. You wont be disappointed with this one.

I bought this on a whim...and I have to tell you i was more then impressed. For the cost I wasn't expecting much, but after playing with it and learning the different sounds there is really nothing you can complain about. The headroom on this thing is amazing due to the 6v6 out put tube. And turn it up and it dirty s up real nice. My kid now plays with it constantly even though initially I bought it for myself. If you looking for an expensive toy, but sounds real serious this thing is it!

I have this particular head and 16 ohm 12 inch speaker cabinet. I bought from a guy. My question is I have another 12 inch speaker cabinet I want to to connect with the other 12 cabinet. Since each speaker is a different ohm rating. How do I connect both of the cabinets to the head safely.

There are speaker-out jacks in the back. The ohm levels are marked. Remember, you can't go below 4 ohms total
