Very well built and smooth in it's operation. Though not intended, I can move it from the detent lock, of full on, to feather the tension a little. That is a plus for me because of all the different types of music our band plays. It allows me to tailor the sound of the drum easily. After about a fifth of the way threw the travel of the lever, it will just slide to snare off position, so be careful if that is your intended use. The screw adjustment for tension, is the longest of any throw-off I've ever seen. That one feature could make it worth the money in my book. There some cons to this throw-off though. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, the screw holes for mounting are very close together, so I don't think they will match up with many of the existing holes. You'll have to be good with a drill to install it. It should come with a verity of screws of different lengths, because the ones it comes with are very short. It should come with some sort of gasket to protect the finish of the drum and it didn't. Other than that it's a pretty awesome machine.

I recently upgraded the snares on my snare drum to the Puresound 30 snare wires, versus the 20 snare wire that came stock with my DW/PDP snare. The stock throw struggled to hold them without slipping. So I tried the Trick Drums GS007 and couldn't have been happier. It did involve having to drill new holes in the shell. Its screw holes are vertically aligned, not horizontal, but that wasn't difficult. I especially like the fact that the pull of the throw is completely vertical, i.e. no outward swing before lift. This allows a very precise adjustment. The throw lever itself moves horizontal in a circular motion. Lastly, it looks very nice, which doesn't hurt.

  • Excellent Construction. Great Throw off.

This Throw-off is extremely well constructed. From the machined aluminum to it's simple gliding parts, it's functionality is one of a kind. it's fairly weighty, but I see that as more of a sign of durability than a drawback. if I had one complaint it would be the screw length is limited, but I doubt that will affect most people as the screws are long/short enough to accommodate the majority of standard thickness snare drum shells. Overall I would highly recommend this Throw-off to whomever has the cash to fork over for an outstanding snare drum mod or, as in my case, to build their own custom snare drum.

I've been an active drummer for 18 years, and I have never found a more heavy duty throw off. Smooth on/off action. Very heavy duty, but extremely easy to use and install. Don't settle for less; it's well worth the money.
