They also come in steel...

I installed the brass ones on my Gibson Flying V. Like the last reviewer said, it's great not to have to worry about the stop bar falling off when you're removing the strings. I combined the use of these studs with the top-wrap technique, and it's true: you get more tone from the wood and the guitar becomes more acoustic when it's not plugged in. I didn't realize that there were also steel versions of these studs, so I should have shopped around first. I just don't want these things to eventually turn green or something. I give this four stars instead of five because the package claims you can't use a screwdriver or any other tool to screw these in, and that you -have- to use the little tool included in the package. (Chipping issues? Warranty?) It's just one more thing to keep track of.

I just put these on my new VOS goldtop and man...I don't know how I didn't do it sooner. These locking studs are everything they claim to be. They increase sustain and resonance in your stop-bar guitar by eliminating the loose play that exists between stock studs and tailpieces. The Tonepros studs lock tightly in to place, so there is always solid contact between your tailpiece and your studs...which means more vibrations in to your guitar body. No stop-bar style guitar should be without it, but if that's not enough, once installed, the tailpiece will not fall of when changing strings...that's worth the price of admission alone.
