Taylor

collapse expand iconDescription

Conceived as a starter guitar for kids, the lovable Baby Taylor has maintained its enduring appeal in part by being a legitimate musical instrument that anyone can enjoy. With a slim 1-11/16" neck and a compact shape, the guitar is just right for a young player's hands and anyone who likes to pick up and play on the go. The three-quarter-size Dreadnought helped touring musicians like Taylor Swift sketch new musical ideas on the road, and it's been a reliable musical accomplice for travelers seeking inspiration while trekking the world.

Swift fondly remembers her pint-size Baby Taylor as the perfect go-to guitar in between gigs during her early days of touring. "I used to sit in the back seat of the rental car while I was on my radio tour at 16, writing songs on my Baby Taylor guitar," she reflects. "I love the sound, and I love those memories." Recalling how the compact, portable Baby was a great songwriting tool for a girl on the go, Swift in turn wanted to encourage others to express their feelings through music, which led to the development of her signature model Taylor Swift Baby Taylor. All Baby Taylor models ship with a durable travel-worthy gig bag made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Tone Woods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. The arched back of the guitar generates more sound from a small-bodied instrument, and using layered wood back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Nice size for traveling purposes, gig bag is the best, great size for kids to handle and learn to play, would recommend it to family and friends for use as a beginner guitar for children

I got one of these for my daughter to practice with. To start off with, it's an easy playing guitar. Good neck, good size for kids or travel, I enjoy playing it myself. You can often find it on sale as well. I would first off swap the strings out for some light phosphor bronze. These are elixir's but they sound fairly lifeless and the upgrade will likely be appreciated, I think medium's might be too much for this small guitar but may provide some better low end, haven't tried yet though. My biggest issues are the lack of full sound. And yes, it is a small guitar with very little volume in the body, but compare it to a GS Mini and there's literally no comparison. And, on that point, if you are coming to this from a GS mini, you'll find yourself wanting a lot more that this can't provide. If it's in your budget, I would recommend going straight to a GS mini, even a used one if you can find one. You'll never outgrow that guitar, it's still my go-to these days, sounds wonderful and is only a hair larger than the baby series.

I have been hooked on Taylor guitars for awhile now. When I picked up the Baby Taylor Swift while I was browsing through the store and started to play it, I was completely sold on the full tone it had. I already had bought two Taylors and I certainly did not need another guitar. So I left the store with this little guitar that sounded so good and played so easy stuck in my head. A week later I could not take it anymore. I went back to buy it and had sold. Whats left to do? Ordered it on the spot. Now I still could not justify buying for myself. I gave it to my daughter who is married and has a little girl of her own. Christmas!!! Yep they got it. And it goes where her and the family goes. They get the same joy as there friends get when they bring it for a little sing along, it sounds so good.
