Taylor 300 Series 360e Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar Shaded Edge Burst

Description
Body Shape
The Dreadnought is one of the most traditional acoustic guitar shapes. Taylor's version has been refined to blend its trademark robust low-end tone with a snappy midrange and brilliant treble notes, producing a pleasing balance of power and articulation. If you're a flatpicker or strummer who likes to dig in on lead or rhythm, the Dreadnought should serve you well. On the 360e, together with the wood pairing of blackwood and mahogany, the broader waist of the Dreadnought body helps bring out the lower midrange frequencies. You get husky low-end power bringing some reinforcement to the part of the 12-string voice that can sometimes be lacking as a result of the extra small strings. You get the crispness and shimmer of a great 12-string, but the whole middle register is a bit thicker.
Tone Wood Pairing
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Mahogany is a hardwood that produces a natural compression, yielding more "roll-in" effect to a note. The compression evens out a lively attack for a more linear response. Mahogany tops deliver strong fundamentals with clear and direct focus. Tonally, blackwood behaves halfway between rosewood and mahogany, with a little extra shimmer and chime that shows its family resemblance to koa. Pairing blackwood with the mahogany top gives you that roll-in effect associated with a mahogany top - that really smooth attach and balance - but with extra complextity as the note decays. On a 12-string guitar, that extra sparkle accentuates those octave courses and gives you especially thick shimmer.
Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.
Other Features
Taylor's heritage is building great 12-strings. Their ease-of-play, their neck stability, their intonation and their overall tone has made them the most popular 12-strings on the market. Taylor's slim neck profile and New Technology ("NT") neck system allow precise and low action, resulting in the most comfortable "handfeel" possible.
What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

I have played the same Fender 12 string acoustic for 32 years and it needs some work done on it, so I set a budget and sought out the best 12 string in that range so I would have a back-up while repairs are done on my Fender. I have never played a Taylor before, but by all reports, they are consistently well made and almost play themselves. The new sound of the 360e really spoke to me as I listened to players on line-unable to play it in person-but what I heard on line compelled me to make the purchase. No regrets. Love the tone and everything else. Thanks Taylor, you now have another fan.
