Taylor 224ce DLX Limited-Edition Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar Transparent Red

Taylor's 200 Deluxe Series delivers all the essentials of a great guitar — exquisite playability, a full and articulate voice, impeccable intonation up the neck, and Taylor's top-of-the-line, professional-grade ES-2 electronics. This collection strikes a balance between tasteful design constraint and aesthetic variety, bringing Taylor's signature tonal clarity and playability into a stage-worthy mix of guitar options.
Grand Auditorium Shape
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum.
Tonewood Combination
The combination of mahogany and sapele produce a tone with strong fundamentals and a clear, distinct focus. Mahogany generates a meaty midrange without adding a lot of unwanted ringing overtones.
Taylor ES2 Electronics
The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly, whether playing acoustically or plugged-in. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, and active bass and treble controls.

This guitar is so beautiful. I couldn't find a flaw. The pictures don't do it justice. I am currently using Elixir 11-52 strings. The action is good and it sounds great acoustically. It sounds good plugged in too, but I prefer the natural or mic'd sound. A blend can be nice. The case is also first class. Something to consider is that the nut with is 1.6875" on the 224ce. The nut width is 1.75" on the more expensive Taylor guitars like the 314's and 814's. This is my first Taylor acoustic guitar and it has lived up to the hype. Taylor does make great guitars.
