Beautiful, clean, crisp sound, and great for the price.
Honestly, takamine has never been my first choice for acoustic guitars. But from the moment I picked this instrument up I was in love. It sounds AMAZING lower and higher on the neck. The cutaway on the guitar makes it easy to play higher notes as well. I was playing all of the higher end taylors and martins, and this one just felt and sounded better than the rest. The built in tuner and electronics are great, easy, and they stay true to the guitars sound while plugged in. It actually sounds more like a $1000-$1200 dollar guitar than a $550 one. This guitar is amazing for anything you want to do, and it's a great price. Highly recommended.

This is a pleasure to play and the sound, unamplified, is robust, with a full bottom and bright highs. But the electronics are inadequate. With the split saddle, the pickup for the G string fails to deliver the full amplified sounds of the remaining strings. I returned one guitar and the replacement had the same problem, which tells me it's a design/manufacturing issue, not a one-off problem. I had a guitar tech try and fix it and was told, the way the pickup is positioned under the bridge, this was not possible. Playing chords are fine, but when finger or flat picking, you will distinctly notice the G string drop off in volume, to the point where you can barely hear it when plugged in to an amp.

I have had mine for about a year now. I really like the neck width it's like butter compare to my Taylor, Yamaha, and Martin. I love the sound and the action of my guitar. This one is my go-to guitar, it's always available for me to play when I come home from work. I really ENJOY this guitar and I will definitely buy this guitar again and maybe buy the dreadnought too.
Great sounding Guitar

This guitar amazed me. I've owned it for 6 months. now. I have Taylor's and Martins costing more than double this guitar and not only is it just bit more fun to play for me than those, it blows them out of the water when you plug this baby in. The electronics on this thing are insane. Unplugged, It has great tone and volume, for its body size. Obviously not going to sound like a jumbo or something but love it's tone. The materials, construction fit and finish are exceptional, minus maybe the tuner nobs, that are a kind of composite - plastic I'm guessing? But that's a minor quib. Everything else is A++. Set up nice. Low action with little to no buzzing unless your really hitting it hard (too hard). Neck is in the a little more narrow and shorter giving it a really fun feel - Like the much bigger brother of a GS Mini but WAAAY better feel. I like that because I have medium to large hands but shorter fingers. I use this now for all of my gigs; solo or with band. It can fill things out or it can cut through the band mix as needed. The EQ actually works well on this guitar. What can I say, I live it. Getting it on sale for about $550 made this a even sweeter deal. Thanks GC folks in North Charleston SC! Great staff you have there.

What is the difference between NEX style and same model non-NEX.
The NEX style is referring to the cutaway on this guitar. This is a different style of cutaway than the non-nex.submitted6 years ago

How deep is the guitar? How does it compare to a Dreadnought Taylor?
It's a bit deeper than a Dreadnought. It's a Jumbo style body style which will give it a deeper resonance.submitted7 years ago

Hello, I am trying to find a hard-shell case to fit my Takamine GN93CE. I went to my local GC store and they could not help. Nothing fir this guitar. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you Frank
Normally with this I would suggest taking it to your local store and try out a bunch of cases, but you've already done that. The only other thing I can think of is give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can set up a special order through Takamine for the case.
