Paul Gilbert Ditto X2 Looper

Importing StarJam Loops Ditto X2

Description
The TC Electronic Ditto X2 looper pedal takes the simplicity and purity of the original Ditto Looper to bold new heights. This upgraded stompbox retains the acclaimed one-knob interface for easy looping, while expanding your creative possibilities. With the Ditto X2 Looper Pedal, you can overdub without limits, capturing up to five minutes of glorious 24-bit audio. The dedicated stop button grants absolute command over your loops. And with the reverse, half-speed and reverse + half-speed effects, your loops can traverse time and space for jaw-dropping performances.
Overdub Without Limits With 5 Minutes of 24-Bit Audio
The Ditto X2 Looper Pedal captures your looped phrases in stunning 24-bit resolution, providing over five minutes of pristine looping time. The simple one-button interface makes it easy to engage the looper and layer overdubs on top of your initial loop. Just stomp once to record, stomp again to play it back and stomp a third time to record another overdub. With 24-bit clarity, your loops will retain their full sonic integrity with each pass through the signal chain. And with no limit on overdubs, you have the freedom to build complex textures one layer at a time.
Manipulate Time With Reverse, Half-Speed and Reverse + Half-Speed
In addition to flawless looping capabilities, the Ditto X2 serves up three powerful effects to warp and transform your loops. Engage Reverse mode to play your looped phrase in backwards motion—opening up creative rhythmic possibilities. Half-Speed does exactly as the name implies, cutting the tempo of your loop in half while retaining true pitch. Combining the two modes, Reverse + Half-Speed yields an otherworldly effect. With the dedicated stop button, you have pinpoint control to start and stop the transformed loop exactly when intended. These effects add a bold new dimension to your live looping.
Seamless Import/Export of Loops Via USB
The Ditto X2 makes it simple to liberate your loops from the pedal and work with them in your DAW. Via the USB port, you can export WAV files of your loops to integrate into new or existing projects. Going the other direction, you can import backing tracks and loops to perform live with the X2. Whether you want to collaborate with other artists remotely or just keep a digital archive of your loops, the X2 streamlines the import/export process.
Free Loops and Jam Tracks From Top Artists
TC Electronic partnered with leading guitarists like Guthrie Govan, Steve Stevens and Paul Gilbert to provide free loop samples to fuel your creativity. The Ditto X2 also unlocks a package of pro backing tracks in collaboration with JamTrackCentral—no extra purchase required. With loops crafted by iconic players and expertly recorded jam tracks spanning many genres, you'll have an instant source of inspiration.

Handles guitar and vocal.
It is now an essential part of my performance. I am a solo acoustic singer/guitar player that frequently uses looping. Because there's two essentially independent mono channels, I use the left for guitar and the right for voice. It is a little cumbersome converting balanced to unbalanced and back using inline transformers, but it works. I mounted a separate A/B switch to either add or cut the vocal loop to mix into the live vocal path. After a little tweaking of gain structure between live and looped vocal, I have a great performance tool. The the dynamic range of the Ditto is wide enough to accommodate the guitar (hot) and the vocal (cool) without going into hiss or digital distortion on either.

Excellent sound quality, poor design.
When I first bought this pedal, I instantly fell in love. It did everything I wanted and more. I can't explain how tremendously this thing has helped me write new ideas and arrangements, and build on my own improvisational skills. My best friend invested more money and bought a $500 looper pedal from pigtronix, and he said he was more impressed with the sound quality of my ditto lol. It all seemed like a dream come true, but I used it so profusely that eventually the button got worn out. A problem that is probably fixable but disappointing nonetheless. If the button doesn't respond when you mash it, it defeats the whole purpose of the pedal, since timing is everything with it. If they had used a nice durable footswitch like the ones on the boss pedals instead of the cheesy clicking buttons I would say it would have been a perfect 10. Unfortunately, in the future I might just stick with boss just to avoid this problem from ever happening during a live situation. PS the reverse effect is really awesome too, its also helped with ideas and adding ambiance. The half speed effect I haven't found a valid use for but its nice to know its there ha.

The original Ditto is awesome, but it lacks a stop switch, and this solves that problem! I don't care about the effects or backing tracks that you can download, but the ability to overdub, and remove the last overdub on the fly and have a dedicated stop switch is perfect. It's easy and intuitive to use.

Bought a used one from GC and it worked great for a few weeks and then the switches gave out. So I bought a brand new one and the switches didn't work at all. Couldn't get one minute of use out of it. It's going back. Not happy....
Great Idea - Poor Quality

The first pedal I received was DOA. I opened the box and put 2 brand new 9V batteries in it (as I did not get the power cord). Plugged guitar into it and then plugged into Amp. No Lights/No Power -Nothing. I returned it to Guitar Center, who happily exchanged it with another. I brought it home, did the same steps and it seemed to work fine for a few minutes while testing it. The next time I plugged it in to use (the next day) it again had no light/no power. Though not common, this does appear to be a problem with TC Electronics -at least with these pedals.
Very disappointed

It had problems right out of the box.The sound quality was very noisy, had a lot of static and hissing when loops were played back.I got the extended warranty, and that proved useless as well. They were supposed to send a replacement and never did.Repeated phone calls just get me an automated survey.I will never buy another T C product or a warranty from Guitar Center.I'll stick with Sweetwater-never had any trouble returning anything with them.
