I wanted to record my mic and electric guitar at times for fun, I mainly wanted to use it for podcasting and streaming. The problem is the latency is way too high which forces you to use the headphones or line out on this which would be fine except the I/O is NOT SIMULTANEOUS! So the only way to hear others from your game stream or even an IP Voice feed on your podcast is from your computer having to deal with hearing yourself talking shortly after you have spoken into your mic, wow what a trip lol drives me crazy. The Mic & Line inputs usually work ok? until you try to use the monitoring output feeding back your mix from your computer and crashing the drivers or actually wish to be heard without frenching your mic, in it's defense it does do a decent job recording my electric guitar. I did figure out that it starts working again only after connecting to my Mac and running a quick recording through garage band before plugging it back into my windows machine and then it forces your audio setup (drivers & Ins/Outs) one way when I want to instead run it through voicemeeter banana or potato setup to my needs. Monitoring is fine if not sending audio back from your computer, for my use case I required sending my live mix down and or playback through this to get rid of the high latency on the inputs instead of at least being able to use my computer's output for that. In short it is a glorified buggy sound capture device and a buggy sound output device however NOT AT THE SAME TIME! My unit also required the gain all the way up to be usable requiring you to still make out with your mic. I tried with both condenser and dynamic mics using cardiod, super cardiod and figure of eight on my testing. All mics retailing $150-$400 or so and yes I used the phantom power on this device as required as well as a separate power supply just to be sure. I wound't even recommend this to an enemy. Latency Issues

the Tascam US-2x2 drivers are terrible. even in the latest 2.10 version. on different audio machines the latency was at 15ms+ at 128 samples. when using your DAW you cannot use any audio output from other windows sources either. it disconnects without any reason. in larger projects the latency is above 25ms round-trip. unusable. Tascam support never responds. good hardware, bad service and drivers. if you need good pre-amps and high performance try a Zoom UAC-2. round-trip below 4ms at 44.1KHz / 64 samples, even on larger projects with 30+ tracks.

I'm using this for direct recording acoustic guitar into a DAW via an AT2020 Audio Technica XLR mic. This was very easy to install and set up - once you download the proper audio driver this device pretty much installs itself. All you do is attach it to your PC with the (supplied) USB line. This also has a monitor out for your headphones in the front panel.

I have to say, this is the best interface I've used for my home recording studio. Produces the same quality sound as the studios that charges me $100 an hour! I love it and I Highly recommend it
