collapse expand iconDescription

The TASCAM Model 24 is a 24-channel multitrack recorder, 22-input analog mixer and USB audio interface in one comprehensive unit. Packed with features for musicians and recording engineers alike, the Model 24 was designed for capturing pristine recordings and engineering polished mixes with ease. Sixteen microphone preamps offer 48V phantom power for condenser mics, while two dedicated Hi-Z inputs are ideal for direct-injecting electric guitars and basses.

Intuitive Hands-On Control For Quick Workflow

With 100mm faders, onboard EQ, aux sends and returns, as well as mute and pan controls for each channel, the Model 24 provides an intuitive hands-on mixing experience. There's no menu diving required, putting all the tools you need right at your fingertips for an efficient workflow. The Model 24's 7-band graphic EQ allows for precise tonal shaping on the main mix or subgroups.

Simultaneously Capture 24 High-Resolution Tracks

Record up to 24 tracks at once to an SD card in broadcast WAV 48kHz/24-bit. With a 32GB card providing over 50 hours of recording time, the Model 24 is ideal for capturing multi-track rehearsals, live shows and demo sessions. Overdub new parts, create submixes and burn Red Book standard audio CDs directly from the unit.

Add Polish With Onboard Effects And Bluetooth Input

Shape your sound with the Model 24's library of 16 digital effects like reverb, delay, chorus and more. A Bluetooth input allows you to add music from your smart device to create backing tracks or capture new ideas on the fly.

Connect To Your DAW As A USB Audio Interface

In addition to standalone use, the Model 24 functions as a 22-in/4-out USB audio interface, allowing you to connect its inputs and outputs to your digital audio workstation. Capture and mix using the Model 24's hands-on controls, then open your tracks in your DAW for editing and post-production.

Warm and impressive results fast

The Model 24 takes me back to the days of analog recording where you simply grab a knob and use your ears. Previously, I was tracking 16 channels with 2 presonus firestudio interfaces, and spending countless hours of editing and mixing, while I would prefer to play my instrument. This Tascam works well for full live band rehearsal or multitracking with a faster workflow than pure DAW. No computer is really needed. Once levels are set, hit record for all tracks and focus on performance. The board mix always records to tracks 23 and 24, so you can quickly export to the PC and convert to mp3 to share with the band members. The preamps are clean and have a warmer sound than my Presonus. The noise floor is amazingly low. Routing is limited, but the sound quality makes up for the lack of digital novelties. It works as a 22 channel interface to your DAW, and also simultaneously records all tracks to sdcard, while the mixer handles the rest. I personally enjoy recording while monitoring with zero latency hardware effects and having a sense of the song's outcome. I use the 2 inserts half inserted as sends for kick and snare to a 2 channel rack compressor then line in to record two extra tracks so I still capture the two original tracks untouched for post or parallel compression. Aux A and B loop through other racks and FX and steal a stereo input for return. If you are going for a simple, less manipulated sound with an old school feel, this is highly recommended. Be sure to check the Tascam website for supported sdcards to purchase separately. 256GB sdcards are about $40 each. If you need digital driven complex features, separate headphone mixes, MIDI, scenes, or a full featured live console, look elsewhere.

BUYER BEWARE - PURCHASED THIS MIXER NEW AND IT WAS DEFECTIVE

I purchased a brand new Tascam 24 mixer about 10 months ago on November 25th of 2022. I read extensive reviews of this board before buying and felt based on my experience using tascam mixers, boards, etc on the past, I couldn't go wrong. I also paid extra to get a "New board" as opposed to a used one, as so many online users warn about buying complex electronics like mixers that are used since there are so many little things to test that you could miss. The box arrived in great shape with no visible damage, and the sealed mixer inside's box seemed also perfect. I placed the box in my fully finished studio, where it sat along with other equipment I intended for my studio for roughly the last 9 1/2 Months. I needed to buy other stuff ( monitors, instruments, computer etc.) I never thought to open this perfect box just to see if the mixer actually worked, because I made the mistake of relying on decades of experience with tascam products. I opened it and plugged it up two days ago, on September 29th, 2023. As soon as the screen came up right after the Tascam logo it flashes "Codec error 30, power unit off" and then wouldn't do anything. I was confused and astonished. My brother and I looked up this codec and issue online and found no one with the same experience. Lots of people cited using the right sd card, but the unit didn't come with one, and even if it did, it made no sense that a mixer designed for use with a computer would need an sd card to operate, much less give a codec error for not using one. Contacted Tascam support today (Monday oct 2nd) and was informed the following: 1. The technician could find no references for "codec 30" and cited that it "may" be a motherboard issue. 2. The board has a 1 year warranty but only on parts, not labor, and tascam discontinued allowing customers to ship bad equipment directly to them for repair or replacement, meaning I have to swallow the cost for labor, and the warranty would Only cover the parts ( he then gave me some local authorized repair center phone numbers) 3. The tech said he was sorry, but he too has to learn the lesson do testing gear after you buy it and not allowing it to "sit around" in case there is a problem. TaSCAM's internal policy changes and their motivation post-pandemic have nothing to do with selling and standing by solid products as a company. I am a consumer who bought a brand new item, never opened or used it, and it was manufactured with a defect that made it useless. It sustained no damage in shipping, had not been touched, and sat for almost 10 months in my fully finished studio on a finished shelf, in an area of my house that is temperature controlled and that I work in every day. There were no hazards of any kind this board was exposed to that would explain or influence it's defectiveness right out of the box, and as a company TASCAM should have the integrity to replace it or AT LEAST repair it at no cost...but they don't and they won't. This is a matter of business principles and manufacturing competence, apparently neither of which Tascam has. Understand that Tascam assumes we the consumers are "Lying" or trying to scam them somehow, instead of admitting the problem with this piece of equipment and transaction. Horrible Horrible way to treat customers.

If you want to make high quality recordings, very quickly without having to fire up your computer and deal with with a mouse, This is it! Absolutely loving this piece of gear! Perfect in the chain as either a standalone recording solution or an interfact to your DAW! I want the case too!

The display screen was sporadically functional upon arrival. It would go in and out, sometimes it would work for days and weeks on end, other times it would never work. I eventually called Tascam and they referred me to a local repair shop. My Model 24 sat at the local repair shop for 2 months until they determined that they would have to send it back to the manufacturer. The Model 24 is now at some other repair shop in California and I have no idea when I will get it back. I'm out over $1000 and I have no recording device. Lovely. This is the last time I will ever purchase a Tascam.

I use it for live recording, multitrack recording, and mixing. I have found that using it in a daw can be kinda glitchy so I just use the standalone functions. It works great for room recording and it even has built in Bluetooth receiver that has almost no latency. There's 2 stereo TRS channels and 18 Mono TRS channels on the 20 XLR inputs. 1 RCA aux is built into the Bluetooth channel. Stereo out monitor room and control room only one headphone out so you might want a headphone Amp to be fully equipped for live monitoring.

Per the picture, I run the TASCAM M24 into my TASCAM 32SD, and use it as a mixer, tho the M24 works great as a recorder on its own. The M24 has good on-board effects, good compression and panning capabilities. The M24 is very easy to use. The "album" Neutral Earth- Current, Volts and Ohms, (available on YouTube) was recorded using this set-up. Two songs (Blue Leech & Neolithic Traveler) we're recorded using the M24 alone. Give a listen if you want to hear what is possible. I also own a TASCAM DP-02 and NEO 2488. I'm happy with all my purchases.

I am a novice when it comes to recording but with the little experience I have and just initially setting the Tascam Model 24 up, I have recorded a few tracks easily. Playback and recording additional tracks is also very easy. You don't need a computer at all, but if you want to fully mix a song and master it, it wouldn't hurt to use a computer with Pro Tools or some other software to simplify the process. So far we only laid down drums and guitar just messing around and it sounds really good. I can't wait to start recording full songs and seeing how close to professional it might sound.
