TASCAM DP-01 Portastudio

The TASCAM DP-01 Digital 8-Track Portastudio features the one-knob-perfunction design that has made TASCAM cassette Portastudios the choice of thousands of musicians. The DP-01 eliminates the confusing page-shift-menu interface popular with most other digital recorders. Designed to be as uncomplicated to use as TASCAM's other Portastudios, it's a breakthrough product for musicians who are ready to get into digital recording.

2 mic inputs on 1/4" TRS jacks for dual mono or stereo recording. 8 tracks record at uncompressed CD quality to an internal 40GB hard drive, and a stereo master track is available for recording a mix. Each channel has a 45mm volume fader, plus dedicated controls for pan, effects send, high EQ, and low EQ. LCD display shows meters, editing settings, and locate points. The DP-01 has a USB 2.0 jack for file backup and transferring mixes to a computer. There are RCA line, headphone, and S/PDIF outputs.

Digital Reference DR-CX1 Microphone

The Digital Reference DR-CX1 studio condenser mic captures the nuances of voice and instrumental sound sources and features high SPL handling. The DR-CX1's custom 16mm diaphragm has excellent response across the audible frequency spectrum plus extended dynamic range. Its cardioid polar pattern offers good directionality and isolation, and responds well with proximity effect allowing a singer to "work" the mic for outstanding performances. It's also a good choice for bass and drum miking with its fast transient response. A pivoting, threaded stand mount attaches securely for easy and precise placement. 40Hz-20kHz frequency response.
