TAMA

Description

The Stewart Copeland snare drum, a Tama signature model, is a faithful reproduction of the snare drum of "mysterious provenance" that Stewart used with the Police and everything else from that time period. This Copeland snare sound easily penetrates what he describes as "the dirge from the bass and the ear-piecing sounds of a guitar." That penetrating sound is the result of combining a die-cast batter hoop and a triple-flanged bottom hoop with a brass shell that is 0.5mm thicker than the standard 1mm shell.

In trying to replicate Stewart Copeland's snare drum on which he recorded all those Police hits, Tama measured the diameter and all of the specs until it came down to metallurgy--the mixture of metals metals. After many prototypes, Tama matched the sound of Copeland's original and set up production to duplicate it consistently. Now you can capture that punchy, piercing sound in your kit.

All around awesome! This snare drum exceeded my expectations! I normally collect vintage snares, but I decided to purchase this modern snare based on the fact that I've idolized Stewart Copeland since the early 80's. This snare has an awesome crack, with great response off the head. The drum is well made and I recommend it for both studio and live. It has immediately become a go to snare of mine!

Amazing snare! Exceeded my expectations by a mile. It's got an amazing crisp snap which makes your double strokes sound beautiful. I played a ton of different snares before I bought it, and the ones that were twice the price didn't sound this good! It's a beast!

The Stewart Copeland snare drum is a great reflection of possible one of the greatest drummers to ever walk the earth. The sound of the snare is very clear, crisp, and loud!!! Built by Tama Drums which is "Toughest name in drums". The drum proudly lives up to that name. Sounds great tuned in a variety of ranges. From a low crawl to Stewart's signature high pitched sound and everything else in the middle. The chrome finish is a nice touch. No one could ask for a better overall drum. The perfect everything drum. Sounds great in any type of music.
