I used it last night and it worked great. The stand did not move an inch. Really like the basket design. Since I like the drum loose in the basket it's set it and forget it design.

  • For me the Tama Star series hardware is the best

This is a fantastic snare stand! Solid and sturdy with and less maneuverability. Very happy with it

When it comes to hardware I'm a DW 9000 guy all around. For the most part I think DW has the best features on their hardware by far. The Only place DW falls short is on the 9000 snare stand and that's where this Tama star stand comes in. Here I will compare the features of the DW and the Tama snare stands to tell you why I personally think the Tama is the way to go. Tama Star Stand features *Spikes on the feet *memory locks for the tripod and downtube *Snare basket is directly centered over the tripod base *Snare basket has 360 ball tilter design for adjustment of basket tilt *Unique Cradle snare basket design DW 9000 snare stand features *NO Spikes in the feet whatsoever *Memory locks for the tripod and downtube *Unique boom arm style snare basket tilter which leaves the drum sitting way off center of the tripod base no matter how you position it. *traditional snare basket *optional Air lift available First of all, the fact that the Tama offers spikes in the feet and the DW does not already means the Tama wins this one in my book. The spikes ensure that no matter what you do, the snare stand will not move on you during play. The fact that both stands offer memory locks on the Tripod and Downtube is IMO of course essential to any high end stand, any brand that does not have this feature should add it quickly or quit making hardware. Next, I will say it Is great that DW is trying to be unique by offering a boom arm on a snare stand, but they should at least also offer a high end model that has a normal snare basket directly centered over the tripod base for those of us who do not like this. Having the snare basket way off center like that easily leads to it tipping over and I also find it extremely difficult to adjust the tilt of your snare basket with this system where as with the 360 ball tilter centered directly over the tripod on the Tama adjusting the tilt is a breeze. Overall the Tama wins any day here. Bravo for this one Tama, Bravo.
