TAMA IN-DEPTH #6 -How to safely and compactly store a Hi-Hat stand

TAMA

Description

The Speed Cobra 315 hi-hat stand offers functionality and stability reminiscent of the highly regarded Speed Cobra 915 hi-hat stand. It features dual-leg construction, uncommon at this price range, and delivers setup flexibility in tight spaces, quick setup / tear-down, and portability.

Dual Leg
Tama's two-leg design is not only easier to set up in limited spaces, it's actually more secure than the standard three-leg design. The secret is in the small stabilizer under the footboard which effectively shifts the balance and strength of the stand toward the player. Since there's no steel plate under the footboard, Speed Cobra hi-hat stands are foldable for quick set-up, fast tear down, and easy portability.

6-Way Tension Adjustment
Six different levels of tension can be achieved quickly by using the six easily visible settings.

I wish this product had been around 50 years ago when I got started!! I bought a similar item in 2006 after loosing all my gear in Katrina!! That one cost almost 3x's more!! If this item had been available I would have purchased this one because of coast factor alone!! Built similar, same features! I would also buy this product over a regular 3leg hi-hat stand for better play ability, & open space for double foot Pedal players & your able to bring another cymbal stand closer to you!! A great product for a great price!!! Hard to come by these days!!!

  • I would buy this agin.

Before I owned this I had a 3 legged stand, because of this getting my double bass pedal close was kinda hard. This stand allows me to put the hi hat wherever I want with room for my double bass pedal.

Through my experience of 10+ years of drumming, whether it be recording, live shows, and constant travel abuse, Tama is simply the master of functional & ergonomic crafting. Over the years of going through every brand on the market, no matter what Tama creates, it's as good or better than anything on the market, (drum shells, hardware, accessories, etc.). Even if you don't use Tama shells/drums, I highly recommend checking out their products. Also, no matter the quality, I won't use a product that charges way more than the actual net worth, and for the quality of Tama, the price in contrast to the production value is well worth the outcome. Tama products have always lasted the longest on my list, and I hit my drums a lot and can be a little careless with transportation between shows or rehearsal spaces. You can throw these things off buildings and they will be just fine. Anyway, enough about how awesome Tama is. I use a single bass drum with a double pedal. So I typically buy 2-legged hi-hat stands for more space around the area so that my foot won't hit the leg if I'm going for it when playing live. They also weigh a tad less, and saves you a couple seconds when setting up. If you play a twin pedal or prefer more space when possible this is your best bet. It will last 7-10 years no problem. Just buy their quick-set hi-hat clutch when they wear out and it's all gravy from there. I use everything on my kit until it physically doesn't work, and Tama is perfect for that.

  • Just what I needed.

Certainly has a smaller foot print, the action is nice. I find the Tama hardware to be a very good choice, I have hardware from different manufacturers,if I should have to replace other hardware some day Tama would be high on my list for purchase!
